Well hubby had his regular 3 month check up today 8 months after his radical prostectomy . Glad to report PSA still at 0.01 undetectable !! Yay :) went out for a meal afterwards to celebrate. Also glad to report total continence for the past 2 months , no need for pads at all and all well in the bedroom dept without the help of any drugs. Just posting to give encouragement to others. I asked his specialist nurse if she thought hubby was doing well and she said she thought he was doing exceptionally well so we are very happy.

He IS making very good progress indeed, a much faster recovery than might be expected, or is average.

Enjoy that good news, and look forward to your future

Very good news indeed!

This gives great encouragement to those of us still recovering from post op side effects....

I have my 2nd PSA test scheduled in early Dec ( 6 months post op ) and will be delighted if my result is similar to your hubby's

Best Wishes
Luther

Just wanted to add hubby is now sporting a beard in aid of Movember. All the family are sponsering him and alll monies raised will be donated to Prostate Cancer UK. The last time he had a beard was 1975 !! Lol.......

We wanted to try and give something back because in those dark days at the beginning of this year I don't know where we would have been without the help of PCUK and the support from members of this forum. As a worried wife I can honestly say you all kept my spirits lifted. Many Thanks. X

Thanks everyone ! My wish is for everyone here to have the same results .

Sorry about the avatar Brian, but when you're Islington born and bred it comes with the territory ;)

Hi JC, how are you ? How was the cruise ? Hope you had a lovely time.

Hi Jan,

Just wanted to say how pleased I was to hear how well your husband is doing. It's really good news that we love to hear. It cheers everyone up, even when they're having a bad day.

Best wishes for future good results.

Thanks Steve and John , yes that was partly my reason for posting, to give others encouragement, something my husband and I both needed in bucket loads at the beginning of the year.

If you read my other thread it will give you the background to our story, I don't know where it's disappeared to now as it was on the *old* site ?

Just to say although my husbands pc was caught in it's very early stage , it didn't stop us worrying right up to the point of his op.

Even though his histology report was (in his surgeons words) *excellent* requiring no further treatment other than regular blood tests , you still worry about things, I think that's only natural.

Also for the first couple of months following his op my hubby was leaking like a sieve and it was really getting him down because at the time he couldn't ever see himself getting back to normal. However with encouragement from both his specialist nurse and members of this forum he carried on doing his pfe's and each day he saw small improvements, until one day he was sitting watching the telly and it suddenly dawned on him that he hadn't leaked all day, he was overjoyed !! Lol......so, anyone out there who has recently had the op or about to have the op my message would be, there IS light at the end of the tunnel.

Hi Jan

Glad to see your hubby has done so well, even though he wouldn't have been as pleased with yesterday's result. It did a put a smile on my face!

Over 7 months since my op, I am comfortably using one pad per day even when active, and am hoping to be dry by April. Much progress has already been made.

No sign of any natural activity downstairs, and sidenafil has not yet had any effect, but I am staying patient and am more than happy with progress. Reading other threads on here makes me realise how lucky I am. PSA has always been undetectable.

Keep posting - it's good to see how others who had their op round the same time are progressing.

Paul
