Yes, it's that time of year again, announcing the annual gathering of the crazy gang at The Mill On The Soar, Broughton Astley, Leicecester.

For the official flyer, please click this link:

COME JOIN US!

These have been held since 2007.

The event this year is on Saturday 18th June from 1pm onwards (buffet at 2pm).

A lot of us stay at The Mill on the Friday and Saturday nights too.

We have all 25 rooms, and you can reserve one directly through me.

So, if you'd like to join the madness (and I'm not kidding there!) please email me as soon as possible to select your buffets and reserve a room if you require one.

Dear Friends,

I'd like to say a big THANK YOU to everyone who was at B2PCa @ The Mill on Saturday 18th June (and for some..Friday and Sunday too!).

As always it was great to see all of you again, and typically, laughter ruled!

It's a real tonic, this yearly boost of positivity, camaraderie and countless funny moments.

There are so many of you I need to thank personally for giving such kind support to make the day go so well.

I am bound to forget some names (I was told I looked like 'one of the walking dead' when I rose from my crypt this morning. Yes, I get compliments galore in my house) but if I miss anyone out, you can be sure I'll be posting with grovelling apologies later.

So here goes:

Janet (JLBatty) for organising the excellent raffle, and handling the PCUK 'stall' (it was just a table really, but 'stall' sounds grander innit?)

There were so many prizes on offer, and it wouldn't have been possible without the prizes which so many of you generously provided.

Raffle raised £133, badges, bags, key rings and wristbands £38.87, and £8 was added.

Janet has sent off the money before I even got home last night, and this is the reply from PCUK:

Thank you for your gift of £179.87 to Prostate Cancer UK.

Your support could help us tame this terrible disease and cut future deaths dramatically in the next decade. You could fund groundbreaking research into better diagnosis and treatments – so we can catch more cancers earlier, reduce the risk of life-changing side effects, and help men with prostate cancer live longer and better lives.

Your support could also help us find the causes of prostate cancer and ways to prevent it, reaching out to men at higher risk to encourage them to talk to their GPs, and providing vital services like our Specialist Nurses to support men and their families.

And you’re doing it with Men United, a team of thousands of people like you who want to stop prostate cancer being a killer.

Thank you Mo (Edamo) for fearlessly stepping up to read 'THE POEM', written for us every year by our resident poet CHRIS BOOTHBY.

You managed it without a single blush, which takes some doing when you consider that Chris's verses get more outrageous by the year.

Well done you!

Our 'official' snapper this year was Chris Butcher (Exbus) along with help for his better half, Shirley.

Thank you both. I see you've already emailed me loads of photos, and they will go into the B2PCa Photo Gallery soon.

If anyone else has photos taken at the weekend, please send them in, usual address:

georgehardy51@msn.com

I must add a special thank you and a huge hug for Elsie Cooper (Kiltie) for just being there, despite her terrible illness.

Elsie was as fiesty and funny as ever, and by the way (if you're reading this, Elsie), Katrina was absolutely 'over the moon' to have won that special teddy bear you donated. It's now called 'Elsie Bear' and has a good home with a large family of caring teddies.

Anyway, thank you all for making it another thoroughly enjoyable weekend.

I would normally thank the guest speaker at this point, but I won't.

We were confronted by a 'long haired old git speaker' with an unintelligible accent. But I will thank the seven Geordies who were there, for acting as translators for the bewildered audience.

Finally, one last important message:

2017 will mark the 10th Anniversary of the B2PCa Summer get-togethers.

It will be held on SAT 1st JULY next year and I'll be issuing the information much earlier this time round.

Let's make it a 'Full House' that day. If you're already on the group email list, you'll receive the first message in a few months time.

If you'd like to be on that list, please mail me soon at the email address shown half way through this posting.

Now, I think I'll go back to bed. I'm 'cream crackered today!

Stay well my friends,

George

Thank you, George, for another wonderful event. Guest speaker was just perfect!

Great to be with friends old and new, and special thanks to everyone who brought raffle prizes and bought tickets and PCUK bits and pieces, much appreciated.

Looking forward to next year already, and anyone who hasn't been before but would like to join us, please do, you will be very welcome at our special 10 year anniversary.

Janet, xx

Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to say that anyone going to this meet up will have a really good time and meet some really nice, friendly people, many of whom are on this site so you probably feel you know them already.

In addition, you'll enjoy the best buffet I've ever seen (and I've seen a lot) with a wide choice of nicely prepared food. It was definitely a highlight of last year for me and will live long in my memory.

Unfortunately, this year's date clashes with my Wedding Anniversary so I am unable to attend because of other arrangements but I will be there in spirit. I'm sad not to be there this year.

So, give it a go, you won't regret it.

So, so sad that we will miss this year ... it is a relief to be with people who simply 'get' it, we have made some good friends at the get-together and love catching up with everyone.

As George is aware, unfortunately Barbara and I we will not be able to attend this year either but will be thinking of the friendly people we have met at Leicester over the years and prior to that at the December meet in Birmingham. I am sure all attending will enjoy as usual.

Barry, it will be a first, not having you and Barbara with us at The Mill, as you've never missed a 'do' since you started coming.

We'll have to make sure your favourite room is booked for 2017!

You mentioned the December gathering in Birmingham? That brought back very happy memories of our first ever winter gathering outside London. The year was 2009 and our late great friend Mike Brooks (Brooksint) and his wife Kath organised that venue for us.

I believe the pub was called 'The Old Orleans', and we had a houseful for Christmas Lunch.

Soon after 3pm I joined a few of my fellow smokers outside (I know, I know, it's a horrible habit, so I won't name them), and before we knew it the snow was falling, and it never stopped till March as far as I'm concerned, living up here in the 'Grim North'.

What a bad winter that was, but the memory of that December day has never left me.

And as you know, some of those same friends will be with us yet again in four months time.

I cannot believe how fast time passes. Mind you I'm glad a good number of us are still around to meet up with such good people yet again.

UPDATE:

28 places booked for the 'do' and 13 rooms reserved so far.

That's good going for February

Hoping to  have it all finalised by the end of March.

It would be good to see a few newcomers this year too.

Ignore the rumours - we're not ALL crazy!

Our cheque is finally on its way!

It would be good to see some new faces this year then we can 'see' who we are conversing with on here!

Keep up the good work George.

All the best to you all.
Chris.

Hi George,

I feel so disappointed that I will not be able to attend this year, I really enjoyed meeting everyone last year and being able to take the photographs which I hope most people enjoyed seeing.

We have a wonderful group of people here and on B2PCa and I hope to meet them again something in the future.

Steve

Steve you took some brilliant photos last year.

It was obvious you're a real professional.

Sorry this function clashes with your Wedding Anniversary, but don't worry, enjoy your celebrations.

There are lots of photos taken every year, and Chris (Exbus), who posted just before you,  has been our main 'snapper' since Dan Sencier left to work in Africa a few years ago.  By the way, Dan is now in Thailand, working as a pole dancer (so he says!).

Just to remind everybody:

PLACES STILL AVAILABLE (and some rooms if required), so please email me as soon as you can so that I can finalise things by the end of April.

Hi Guys and Goddesses,

Do we have any more takers for places at The Mill Big Event this year?

I'm trying to get things finalised and there is room for quite a few more people.

Hi George,

And a big thank you for organising, yet again, a wonderful event for so many folks. Can't be easy, and must take some doing even though you are now considerably experienced as an event organiser.

A fantastic Friday evening and I was really pleased to meet up with so many gang members.

I look forward to seeing you all again next year.

Thanks again to you George.

Dave

Just a quickie (ssshhhhhhh!) to let you know that all the photos from our 'do' at The Mill last weekend are now in their online albums.

Janet, I'm embarrassed you should say the speaker was perfect. No I wasn't! You're much too kind, as always.

To tell you the truth, I was 'bricking it' having to do that presentation with so little time to prepare. In fact I was still scribbling away desperately just an hour before we kicked off!

Dates for your diaries:

The December meet at THE EUSTON FLYER - WEDNESDAY 7th DECEMBER this year.

Next year's summer get-together: THE MILL ON THE SOAR - SATURDAY 1st JULY 2017

Please get in touch if you'd like to be there and meet up with so many friends from these forums.

Hi Chris,

Yes it's in London in a pub near Euston Station, usually held starting around midday until the early evening.

Really worth going.

Chris
The flyer is a pub on the Euston Road between Euston and king x railway stations. It's quite big and normally quiet other than the B2PCa crowd.
Probably a good way for you to meet people without the worry of an overnight stop etc.
Some great people go. I will be in Lanzarote otherwise I would be there.
