Hi,

After my 2 PSA readings of 3.6 & 3.5, I was sent to a Urologist who is set to do Ultrasound next week.

Can anyone tell me more about this?

cheers,

Mark

Hi Mark
Not to fear ! The Uro will repeat an examination of your prostate with his finger via your anus. This is a digital rectal examination DRE. He will then do an ultrasound scan which involves inserting the scanner into a well lubricated back passage with your back turned and knees up , lying on your side. It is anatomically formed to provide the least discomfort. A deep breath is all that is needed.
With this scanner he can see any obvious lumps on the prostate , but it is normally used to calculate the volume of the prostate which may be enlarged and causing symptoms due to a number of reasons , not just cancer.
All the best with it
Chris

Hi Mark.
One thing to be aware of that they do not tell you is that your motions may take a few days to return to normal. This caused my hubby some concern until we discovered this was normal.
