Hello,

It’s Amy here from the health information team at Prostate Cancer UK. We’ve developed new information for men and their families about dying from prostate cancer and would like to know what people affected by prostate cancer think about it. We understand that this is not going to be for everyone and some people may find it difficult to read, but we very much value the support of our Online Community members in your feedback on our information. We understand that having conversations about dying from prostate cancer is very difficult and reading this information may bring up feelings or memories that you could find upsetting. If you’d like to talk about prostate cancer or end of life care, please contact our Specialist Nurses.

Background - our new online information about dying from prostate cancer includes information about what to expect,  thinking and planning ahead, thoughts and feelings, supporting someone, ways to feel more in control, and personal stories. To develop the information, we used the results from a survey in October 2015 where we asked people affected by prostate cancer to tell us what they wanted to know – some of you may have been involved in this. And we involved men with advanced prostate cancer and family members of men who had died from prostate cancer when we developed the information.

The new information is now online here: http://prostatecanceruk.org/prostate-information/advanced-prostate-cancer/dying-from-prostate-cancer

Tell us what you think - we’d like to know what people affected by prostate cancer think about the new information and if there are ways we can improve it. I would be very grateful if you would read the new information and take this short anonymous survey to tell us what you think.

Take the survey.

Thank you very much for your help and please let me know if you have any questions.

Amy

Not an easy read I totally get that some people are not ready or at the point when this is appropriate so maybe we should give it a star rating , personally I thought it was oh so needed and for those people who are in this category then just to read others journeys and the coping methods that have helped was for me a real help . Sometimes you just need to know that others understand , we can all shy away from a difficult diagnosis thinking thank goodness that isn't me but this is real life and lots of us have to go through this . The ladies that participated I applauded you. Yes ,yes yes, thank you.
