Hi there, can we start a conversation on the effectiveness of the Vacuum pump?

I had my operation 6 months ago, December 2015, and have lost any ability to have an erection

Now I am delighted the cancer has gone - PSA negligible

but the Libido is there, and I want to satisfy my girl friend as before, and so does she

happy memories

The pump is amazing, and provides an appealing erection, the cock ring helps stem the blood flow, but penetration is impossible.

I have  become Mr Bendy, laughable but frustrating

Now that is enough to get started

1) have you had a similar experience?

and

2) what have you tried, frankly, to stiffen your willy?

Pete

Welcome to the club no one wants to be in.

Sometimes the moderators take their time to clear new posts.

I will leave others to comment on the pump although I can get great results, I hate the thing and it may be having a detrimental effect on a ureteral stricture I have.

Do you mean your penis has a bend or do you mean it is floppy.

I keep telling people, you do not need an erection for vaginal intercourse, you just need double glazing to stop the neighbours hearing the screams of ecstasy. Can not guarantee all the items you miss but if you can master the technique it will be close. You may need to paste the link into your browser address bar. A series of procedures has left me slightly incontinent and I occasionally ejaculate urine, I have used a condom with the method in the link.

Hope you find a solution.

Thanks Chris

Hello Pete
Sorry you in the club , but delighted you are clear of cancer at the present. Many of us have ongoing treatment where the op has failed. The pump was giving me very good erections for 10 months post op , but not really good enough for decent sex. And in the last 3 months my penis has lost 2" in length and a lot of girth. It's just happened I suppose. I'm on hormone therapy aswell which won't help.
The problem is , you lose your " root " when you have prostatectomy -- your inside erection. You have nothing internal to use your penis. I've used injections extensively. They give the nearest thing to normal sex tbh , but I'm stopping using them due to very serious side-effect pain. I've not had an orgasm anywhere near as good as pre op , but they seem to be getting better. I'm not sure I'd be happy even if the cancer was gone. The ED has changed my / our lives , and it's only getting worse. Other people are luckier and I hope you are. But DONT give up !!

Thank you Pete and  Chris

It is good to  be able to talk about a subject dear to me and my partner - sex

I did take a look at the Google book on Flaccid insertion

I also learned from the Pump man about the 'root' how the penis is based in the body and that helps keep an erection UP

Now these flaccid foreplays and failed penetrations are all very interesting but not  meeting my needs, as a meat eating  man with a good track record of getting to the spot that makes her moan for more.

So we have tried some new ideas.

First a plastic tube, cut from a 2" diameter bottle of hair shampoo. that slips over the dick before you pump and stays firmly in place when erect.

While it enables penetration, it is not altogether very comfortable for the recipient. And of course I get no sensation down the stem as it is encased in the tube.

I bought a cock sleeve from Bondera, which turned out to be totally bendy and hellish difficult to get off. (I didn't try the cold water treatment though)

Meanwhile I am thinking of other home made dick supporting prosthetic  devices

When I find  something would you willing to try it and comment?

Practice makes perfect

Pete

(In confidence)

Erm, have you tried more old fashioned things like caverject or muse? Or even viagra or levitra?

Thanks Lyn
Not heard of Caverjet, or Muse? Can you enlighten me
Viagra is a post stimulus maintain erection medicine as i understand, and with the pump we rely on a rubber band

And not heard of Levitra
they all sound interesting items to add to an interesting subject

Does a quick reply mean it only goes to you, or can anyone on the forum read it?

Quick replies can be seen by everyone.

It would be a good idea to get an appointment at the ED clinic, which is possibly where you got your vacuum pump? You did get a pump in the BUS and not from a sex shop I hope?

If the pump doesn't do for penetrative sex for you then you either need to practice your technique or accept that the penis needs to be guided by hand when using the rings. Even if you don't use it for sex, important to use the pump (without the rings) at least daily to prevent atrophy (permanent loss of size and girth).

Treatments other than the pump will depend on whether or not you had nerve sparing surgery. Viagra, Cialis and levitra are all tablets that you can get on the NHS because you have had prostate cancer. Tablets only work if you feel turned on, and only if you had nerve-sparing. Caverject is an injection and muse is a pellet you stick up the eye of your penis - these might work even for people without nerves.

Best to see your ED clinic to talk through what you should try next.

Have you applied for your prescription exemption certificate? You are entitled to free prescriptions for at least5 years after a cancer diagnosis.
