ED pill after 12 years

User
Posted 13 Jul 2016 at 13:29

Firstly thanks to Lyn for her continuing ED advice and support along with guys such as Chris J, Nikon Steve and many more for their perseverance in and or trying to overcome ED.

To be fair to GP's ED pills were offered previously but being on HT for such a long time and those PSA spikes of which the CNS commented in letter to previous GP "We have explained the implications to Raymond" (possible HT etc. in the future) so I thought what's the point.

However comments from members triggered something enough for me to try them particularly after todays PSA result of 1.03. So the GP advised to try them at first on demand as it were, 1 pill of Tadalafil 20mg (8 tablets). GP is not too keen on a daily dose for me but its not ruled out.

Will it work after nigh on 12 years - time will tell

Thus it seems the older member (me) has learned from you younger folks - thanks again

Ray

A quickie update. 2nd pill - someway to go but good enough for the task -:) -:)

John, I noted you did ok with regards side effects. So far they're pretty much zero but is it early days yet?

Chris/Woody and those in a similar situation hope the fact after 12 years it's seemingly possible thus far gives you hope.

Thanks for the comments

I'm not long over Hives from back of my head too bottom of my feet (and they say don't scratch -:) ) so i will give it a few days before trying. The surgery is well into working with you in all health areas so we see how the future goes.

I would agree RT/HT guys do seem to lack ED help. It was the continuing ED posts that finally got me to try. So hopefully the more that post about ED after all treatments it will encourage others to try. Then the message might get through to all medic types it does matter so what can you do to help.

Hi Ray
Give it a whirl so to speak. High dose was not nice for me , but daily 5mg giving promising results. If there is no medical reason for him not wanting to prescribe it , then give it a go. Cialis is expensive so it can be a post code thing. I got it myself with my doctors knowledge and just pill cut the tablets. Only roughly £50 !for four months so worth it

Hi Ray,

If were not for this forum then I wouldn't be having ED treatment too but it was reading about what I should have been doing that prompted me to take action. I was overlooked by my med team following RT , but to be fair to them for the first 12 months on HT I really couldn't have been bothered about it.

I've only been on daily 5 mg Cialis for the past 4 months and the improvement to my 'well being' is truly amazing - even with no libido I seem to have 'useful stirrings' more often than I ever thought I might. I just wish I'd started this treatment a long time back now. I'm intrigued to see what being on daily Cialis will be like once my libido returns ( hopefully) once I cease HT next year ! I hope that you have good luck with Tadalafil (Cialis) and can cope with any initial side effects. They wore off within 2-3 weeks for me.

Hi Ray, it is true that HT/RT guys seem to be overlooked in being told about the need to have ED/penile atrophy prevention as standard information at early stages of their treatment.

Like John(surr33) I knew nothing about the need to keep my JT in good health and accepted that I would have loss of libido with the assumption that things would revert to "normal" after treatment finishes, how ever long that takes.

Lots is mentioned about those that have had a RP and it is good that this subject is kept alive as well. We are all in the same boat with varying degrees of side effects regarding ed and it is important to be given the best information as early as possible on DX.

Keep "raising" the subject guys and girls.

Ray,

I had low back pain initially which transferred to my buttocks which restricted mobility for a while but wore off within 2-3 weeks. Some on here have reported muscle aches and headaches which I did not have. Looks like you're lucky ( and why not !).

My wife was concerned that the Cialis was affecting my QOL and should I be taking these tablets? But I was determined to persevere and do not regret taking them at all. I think that taking the higher dose twice a week may produce fewer s/e. The twice weekly higher dose was not recommended for me when I had my ED appointment.

I am pleased that I am on Cialis and using the pump. In fact just very occasionally the pump doesn't have to be used to achieve the main benefit !

Since seeing GP 4 weeks ago not been well enough to try Cialis so progress is? On that visit I passed the comment worked 6 times out of 8 which considering it was the first month I thought was very good so queried whether 10mg would suffice rather than 20mg. Feedback was as it failed twice stay on 20mg. So my question: "Would cutting a 20mg in half likely to cause any issues?.

I'm presently cutting a 20mg tablet into 4 pieces with no issues at all.

Thanks Chris I will give it go.

If you buy a pill cutter from the chemist they normally have a razor blade inside and are very efficient at splitting pills without shattering them. They also have a guide to help you. I was self funding 20mg Cialis off the internet. The tablets were oval , so easy to split into four pieces. Now my doctor has agreed to supply the tablets but is giving me 20mg tablets to split as it is the easiest option. Problem is , they are pear-shaped so hard to judge the cut and hence dose correctly.
I hope you carry on with success. I'm finding the daily dose quite good and less side effects. If your doctor agrees you could also try this and /or self fund for a while. Best wishes
Chris

So there was I doing so well. Then I coughed for 3 months, continually trying to clear my throat, ( so why wait this long asks the GP, why come now- cos my ears can't be having the nagging anymore :-) ). Chest xray ordered. From GP clicking link to hospital and excluding travelling time all done in 20 mins - shows NHS can be quick. Xray showed a small opaque area put down to possible old infection. I suggested coughing was down to Cialis. GP not too convinced but suggested come of it for 6 weeks to see how you get on. If all OK go back on it and see what happens. BP also shot up from 130/70 to 150/70 (both average of 1 weeks monitoring)

So anyone else had coughing as a side effect and or BP rise? On the latter I'm thinking I need to watch my salt intake more carefully .

It's more likely to work if your libido is at least coming back. You can still try it even if not but failure might knock your confidence back. So firstly its how you feel and then how your GP does

Keep thinking you can win the fight.

thanks ray,my libido has never left me,its just that nothings happening below,i have read somewhere that not to use viagra if you have got anaemia from zoladex,my red blood cells are about just below borderline,i did not have my last 4th july jab,gp said to keep monitoring my red blood cells.

yes correct on anemia but your GP may decide in your case the risk is acceptable or might have an alternative. Don't buy it on-line without seeing GP first.

Hi Ray,

I do have a cough which I consider a side effect!

I'm on 5mg Cialis daily, which works for me in that I'm able to achieve spontaneously full penetrative sex!

However, I do get side effects which include a cough, tiredness, joint and muscle aches. These side effects mean that I do need to take a holiday from Cialis i.e. 10 ish days off every 4-6 weeks.

The cough disappears almost immediately, with the aches and pains a few days later!

Hi and thanks Pablo.

Your holiday break is in line with my thinking as I feel my system gets overloaded. I've tried leaving a good week between pills but side effects still not cleared, although at first they clearec quickly. I've cut 20mg in half but it doesn't achieve a usable erection. My throat is the main issue as I can't hold a short conversation without having to keep clearing my throat. After food is the vicious circle as coughing in trying to clear my throat leads to reflux. I'm now 8 days since last 20mg pill with the result from yesterday coughing is starting to reduce.

I see what my 6 weeks holiday does.

By far out of everything I've tried , the small daily Cialis 5mg dose gives the best most reliable results, with the least side effects. I developed a worrying swallowing problem but GP put me on Lansoprazole and it has completely disappeared , and I never ever get acid anymore. I too am now almost able to make love on demand by using Cialis. For an event , say a break away , I am injecting Invicorp bought privately. This is the golden chalice for me. Almost pre-op erection and size , zero pain whatsoever , and nearly 90 mins of Chris J freestyle haha

Thanks Chris.

I'll wait the 6 weeks to be sure it's nothing else (for my own peace of mind )and then if need be mention the 5mg, again, and the lansoprazole.

Enjoy your freestyle -:)
