Decapeptyl SE - Hot flushes and sweating

Hi all,

My dad was recently diagnosed with prostate cancer. He was prescribed Decapeptyl SR 11.25mg to be taken every 3 months.

He is currently on his first dose.

After one month without any side effects, last night he started experiencing hot flushes. These prevented him from sleeping.

We contacted the GP but they said it was a matter for the consultant. However, he won't be seeing the consultant again for two months.

Is there a way to minimise or prevent the side effects of this medication?

Hi Cam........

Like your dad I suffer from hot flushes after starting monthly Hormone injections.
When the flushes first started they were very bad and really got to me but a friend of my wife suggested I try taking Sage.

I have been taking it now in tablet form for about 2 months and I must say it has improved the situation a great deal.
I now have less flushes and the ones I do get are nowhere near as severe.

Hope this is helpful.
All the best
Harley
