Active surveillance one year on

In August last year I was diagnosed with pc ( Gleason score 3+3) with a psa of 11.2.

Could not have an MRI due to metal clips in head from brain surgery s few years ago.

Have been on active surveillance since then and went to my doctors every 3 months for psa test. Psa test show it has gone down to 5.6 then 2.2 now 1.6

I am due to see consultant next week for the first time since been diagnosed.

Questions. Will I prob be given another biopsy due to low psa?

I have bad pee control but nothing done about it. Is it worth mentioning?

Will I still have to have psa test done every few months.

How can I have pc with low psa now.

My guess is that I had an infection when first diagnosed and the antibiotics they gave you after biopsy got rid of it hence psa going down without treatment !!!!!!

Feel like I have been diagnosed and then forgotten about.

I am 55 years old so even if it is slow growing does that mean I will prob need treatment eventually!! 🤔

Hi Maverick,

I would give your Specialist all the details you can I had lower PSA 2.19  and had biopsies  that found cancer so had an early choice of Brachytherapy  but was on the fine line between between that and  radical surgery (see my avatar).

Nobody can tell you the best way to proceed but i would read up as much about PC as you can as it a disease you don't give a second chance.

Good luck.

John.

Hello Maverick.

If you were given a Gleason score of 3+3 (which is low) from your previous biopsy so I would have thought that you had been given PC as a diagnosis, but this isn't the case?

If you are having peeing problems then you need to mention it to the consultant and ask him what can be done about it as it must be affecting your quality of life.

Perhaps you now have an infection that would respond to medication. Were you ever prescribed Tamsulosin or similar.

Like John the print, my John was on active surveillance and then had permanent seed brachytherapy
