Zoladex or Prostap

Hello everyone,

My husband has just been diagnosed, T4N1, Gleason 9. He'll be starting hormone therapy soon along with chemo.

The hormone used here (Isle of Man) is Prostap but we have heard that Zoladex is a better one, does anyone have any advice on this please?

We're told he might get Zoladex if he asks for it and we would certainly pay for it if it was superior to Prostap.

This is all very new to us, it seems to be an aggressive tumour as he had hardly any symptoms.

Thank you,

Brenda

Hi Brenda,
I'm 51 years old and diagnosed T3b N1 M0 this year and Gleason 9.

I've heard similar stories but I believe Prostap is simply slightly cheaper than Zoladex just as 12 week injections are cheaper than 4 week ones.. All I have ever had hormone inj wise is Prostap.

Ask the question by all means but I don't think there is any compromise. I have private care but I get my hormone injections at my local practice.

Good luck!

Richard

Thank you, Richard, that's reassuring to hear.
