Just catching up with the chat ….we are just on our way home from Portsmouth, our daughter lives there so we do the journey a lot, takes us about 6-7 hours with a stop driving. They don’t get North as often at the mo as they have a six month old. We love it there though. Lovely story, we took her on a med cruise after GCSEs when she was 16 and she met a boy on the ship from Portsmouth, we got on really well with his family…so they kept in touch and visits were arranged, then two years later she went to Guildford uni (only an hour away from him) five years later they bought a house in Portsmouth, got married December 21 and had baby six months ago….they are both 30 this year and we are all cruising again (his parents too) to celebrate!
On the music front…. Jackson, I so wish I’d seen Jethro Tull years ago, I loved the band and particularly Ian Anderson’s voice. We had a spate a few years ago of going to Giants of Rock in January in Minehead (the only time we’ve ever stayed at Butlins!!!) in 2017 Jethro Tull was one of the bands and I was so excited…so whilst Steve and friends were in a different hall watching Steve Hackett, I was front of stage watching Ian Anderson. I was so disappointed….his voice had totally gone, and he didn’t sing that much. Now it may be that he was under the weather on that occasion, I don’t know….let me know how he is when you see him.
To be fair he is getting on!
On the bike front….Steve and I had bikes which is how we got talking for the first time over 40 years ago! I worked in a building society then and he was a customer and he’d come in to get a Cheque drawn to a local motorbike shop for a new bike and I’d commented that’s where I got mine from (I think he fell in love then!!). I only had a Yamaha DT 100 which was a trial/road cross …. Steve was buying a Suzuki GS 550E…..so once we got together I went everywhere on the back of that! Years later he sold that and bought a Kawasaki W650. That’s now gone as we don’t bike anymore… but 30 years ago he bought a Z200 which he rode occasionally and is going to be his retirement restoration project! It’s now officially a classic bike qualifying for free tax as it’s over 40 years old! He’s hoping to find the time soon…he’s been retired 3 years but since then we’ve moved house twice (into rented whilst we renovated the house we bought); bought a static caravan; 3 grandchildren came along and we’ve dealt with this cancer lark…so not had much time!
