hi yes wish too it was the old one much easier to communicate- need to check obviously but these tablets come in various doses sometimes if pharmacy hasnt got the 150 they will give the lower dose but take more tablets, see if you have the original prescription if not check with pharmacy or hospital , best of luck

Just goes to show that with all the checks mistakes are still made and not noticed. Good that you persisted. Reminds me of the old ambiguous chemist slogan (pharmacy in modern speak) - "We dispense with accuracy".

Thanks for your replies,

I phoned Drs and it should have been one a day , Drs checked there records and that is what was stated on prescription, phoned pharmacy they said 3 a day so asked them to check actual prescription, they apologised and said "oh yes should only be 1 a day sorry"

do not think I will go to that chemist again.

well 18 months later and tony is now back on hormones again. ( he was only on them for 3 months last time) psa went from 2.2 in aug 66 to 22 in nov 16 to 53 in feb 17. had a scan and has had a spread to 1 lymph node. was diagnosed 11 years ago gleason 9 t3b so has been lucky so far. wondering what comes next. has chronic kidney disease as well so is limited what meds he can have, kidney only working at 14% do is ckd 5. anyone else in this position, would like some idea of what to expect.

Hi Barry

in himself he is fine, gym 3 times a week and golf twice a week and no symptoms at all. trouble is his kidneys are failing ckd5. only working at 14% and now spread to lymph nodes. I have tried researching what treatment he may be able to have but cannot really find anything. I think chemo would make his kidneys worse and he cant have a transplant as the drugs they give you to stop rejecting a new kidney would make the cancer grow rapidly.  nice to hear from you how are you keeping.

Tony,s PSA is now down to 0.08 after 2 hormone injections will stay on them for now and have another scan in October to check for any more spread . could not have asked for a better result . 11 years on and still going strong.

Hi Barbara

Pleased to read Tony's PSA has dropped so well. May it keep it low long time.

Well good news today, Tonys lymph nodes have shrunk completely and psa 0.2  Onco has suggested radiotherapy to lymph node area but there is a risk due to his kidney disease, 50/50 chance of damaging them so we are going to wait until he has spoken to his renal specialist and then make a decision in march. if he has the radiotherapy he will be able to come off the hormones again but if it damages his kidneys more it could put him on dialysis so a big decision to be made, but for now we will celebrate the good results of today. life is good.

Barbara, watch those decimal points! You biog shows 0.2 PSA. I imagine it is the higher figure, which beats my nadir of 0.3, years ago. Obviously, lots of miles left in the old banger yet!

Best wishes

Barbara Tony

Good result. As you say future decisions can wait, in the meantime enjoy. You're getting nearer to the 15 year survival post.

Tony's latest PSA 0.7. onco was quite happy with that and leaving him on ht for now and is going to see the redults in 3 months and the decide on RT,he is still a bit worried about the rt damaging tony;s kidneys more as they are only working at 12% now.
Tony will seehis kidney specialist mondayso hopefully no bad news from him.
