PSA results after Surgery

It will be 5 weeks tomorrow since OH had surgery, continence is good, and slight movement on the ED front, spoke to consultant yesterday who gave us the news that the cancer has breached the prostrate and our grading have changed to T3a from T2c and G6 to G7, just had the results from the PSA test from yesterday which is 0.1, they want to take another one in two weeks time as they say it might of been done too early, has RP failed?

Glad all seems to be going well (apart from the PSA)
Fingers crossed that the next one is an excellent result

That first PSA test isn't supposed to be done until 6 weeks post-op so it seems sensible to wait a couple of weeks and do it again.

The breach isn't as important as the margins - did they say anything about a positive or negative margin?

Lyn, what was said was that that it had breached the prostrate but not the margins, so would I we take that as negative margins? Our consultant casually mentioned that there had been a surgical incision before removal, we where too shell shocked at the time to query if that would make a difference to the outcome

Just a quick update, had results from the second blood test and it has come back lower than 0.1, don't know what it is and OH says he will take that, he says no point in knowing as we will just worry off so we are off to book a holiday and see what the next one says in 3 months, also on the good news front our daughter has just told us that we are going to be grandparents again

OH has just received a letter from the hospital to say that the last PSA test he had on the 14th July was undetectable. Great news , looking forward to our holiday to Italy next month.
