PSA 7.2, severe pain and a multitude of symptoms

I’m asking on here as I’m so worried for my dad. He is 59 and has been having problems / symptoms for over a year and it’s suddenly got worse. He has been to the doctors this week and is now going to the hospital for tests in a week. He has:

A smooth but enlarged Prostate

urine hesitancy,

severe back, hip and testicle pain to the point he is struggling to work and waking in the night for painkillers,

7.2 PSA

Painful urination.

I’m trying to find out as much as possible as he thinks and is resigned to it being prostate cancer

well if it was smooth, that's a good sign. If his prostate is very large then it could be that he has been living with part urine retention for a long time and possibly has damaged his kidneys or is living with ongoing chronic urinary tract infection as a result of not emptying properly.

His PSA is a little bit above the normal range so prostate cancer is a possibility but not a certainty at this point.
