Sean,

Mickey is not a regular poster and last posted an update in June 22 as in this thread, so may not see your post. However, it is clear from what he said that that he had HIFU and was very pleased with the result in his case. If you want more information on him just click on his Avatar and Profile/Bio.

As it happens, I am due for a 12 month follow up MRI next week for the HIFU I had in December 2021. (The scan has been delayed for several reasons but not critical). My 3 PSA readings over last year have each recorded 0.02, so I am hopeful of all being OK.

In a sense I was fortunate to have my initial HIFU as part of a study for failed radiotherapy within the NHS, so no cost involved. No mention has been made of any payment for the repeat HIFU which was done at my request by the surgeon who administered my first HIFU in 2015, so I am not going to raise this aspect. I understand that you can can get HIFU on the NHS for primary treatment at a few places now but emphasise you must meet criteria which seems more restrictive than for surgery or radiation.

Oh! I guess Mickey must have an alert to this thread and posted while I was typing so you now have a first hand reply from him.
