I just read the BAUS guidelines on treating priapism. Thanks for the link. It describes the two types, ischaemic and non ischaemia but doesn't mention anything about an erection caused by injecting drugs for ED. Do you know how John's was treated please?
Cheers
Bill
I don't think those guidelines were in place when it happened to John. We ended up in A&E at 2am - it took a couple of hours to get an on call urologist to attend, they discussed blood letting but fortunately the erection was subsiding by then so no knives were used! Initially, the hospital wrote to our GP and ED nurse to say that J must not be prescribed any more caverject but our urologist later amended that and wrote the private prescription for the antidote (whatever it was). The antidote was never needed though - after the priapism, caverject became very unreliable in our house and naybe only worked once kn every 3 or 4 attempts. I notice that is mentioned in the BAUS guide.
