Almost a year on after RARP

Brilliant news Adrian.

Magic, Adrian.

Long may it continue.

Great news 👍🏻 🍻

Twenty seven month PSA check result <0.02 still undetectable. 🥳

Plus liver function is spot on.

Two great reasons to have a few beers to celebrate.🍻

I hope this gives hope to others with a high Gleason and T3a staging,  who opted for surgery.

However, I shall always be mindful of others who've not fared so well.

Fantastic news Adrian!

It's almost as though your liver has given you permission to have a couple of beers later 😅

Cheers,

Kev.

Cheers, mate. I'm making the best of my liver's consent. I'm on the back garden bench, it's Scorchio here, and having my first tinny. I'm also toasting my surgeon, who must have done a bloomin' good job.

Excellent news. As a fellow T3a but 14 months behind your results continue to give me hope.

Pleased to hear this , Keep going and enjoy the summer.

Adrian
You are doing the right thing in staying hydrated in these hot conditions.
Good news with the PSA 👍

<0.02 is a great number

Great news Adrian long may it continue.  Hope you enjoyed your beers, well deserved 👍

I had a telephonic consultation with a urology doctor yesterday. As, since my op,  my PSA has remained undetectable for almost two and a half years, he has put my PSA checks to 6 monthly instead of 3 monthly. I'm happy with that. 🙂

Good luck to you all.👍

Hi Adrian,

Great update, six months time there'll be a Christmas tree in the waiting room 😁

Cheers,

Kev.

Hi folks.

I've just had the results of my 33 month PSA result. I was bit more anxious about this one,  because it's the first time I've had a six month gap between tests.

I needn't have worried. I'm still < 0.02 'undetectable'.

As an ex Gleason 9 (4+5) with a T3a staging,  I hope this gives a bit of confidence and hope to others.

We've had an awful few months on this forum and lost several friends. Losing them has certainly muted my celebrations.

Good luck to everyone.

PSA result must have been a relief as one can never be sure. Thank your lucky ***** that the cancer was discovered when it was and was competently treated. Certainly encouraging for men. It does surprise me somewhat with all the publicity nowadays, that more men don't come forward for a PSA test. It may be that some feel well and think that because they have no symptoms, they are not affected, when some of them are.

Hi, Mel.

Thank you, and all the others, for your good wishes.

From your profile, I see, that you're about a year behind me. You ended up T3a with a positive margin. What was your final Gleason score, mate?

It seems your PSA has also been undetectable since RARP. There's a variation between the GFCT results at 0.03 and the hospital results at <0.01, but they both seems to be the lowest they measure to at both laboratories.

Like me, you were worrying about BCR, has that anxiety improved any?

As I said earlier. They've now put me on six month PSA checks. Although I still worry about the checks, over time my concern over BCR, is finally diminishing.

I hope your results continue to be as good. 👍

Great news Adrian. I had my first post SRT test in August. New GP and a recently appointed lab. Result 0.0 (zero) . I explained in detail that post SRT zero was not really a useful result to report and that I needed to know the lab's lowest detectable level in order that any small increases may be measured, should they occur. He didn't understand and said he would ask the lab to contact me so that I may explain to them. Of course, I have not heard from them. I have a second test scheduled for 3rd Dec. If I get another useless result, I'm off to the hospital for a proper test. I have read many times on this forum that not all GPs are knowledgeable about our specialist subject. This is just another case in point.

Hi, Peter.

Thanks, mate. I don't understand the 'post SRT 0.0 (zero)? I agree with you, that you should know exactly what's the lowest they measure down to.

Reading your profile, like me, the treatment and the advice given to you has not always been as good as it should have been. That's why I now question and double check everything I'm told.

I see after RARP, that your surgeon was arrogant enough to tell you that you were cured. Did he think he was Jesus? 🙂 A couple of months ago, a newbie posted that his surgeon told him the same. I put him straight.

I've jumped on this thread as I'm now just over 1 year past my RARP event and am a member of the pT3a Club. I was Gleason 7 (4+3) and at surgery had some extra capsular extension but with a 7.6mm positive surgical margin. The vesicles were tumour free. Histology promoted me to pT3a+ (although I'm not sure what the + means) .My first PSA test came back at <0.1, followed by three 0.1s and then my last, about 4 weeks ago at 0.2.

I was referred on to Oncology who have Trust procedure of carrying out RT at this 0.2 PSA level. So, I'm now waiting for dates for the full 4weeks of treatment, probably in the New Year. I'm glad they're so proactive and have a plan in place but wonder is this standard? I had heard that some Trusts wait till 0.4 or 0.5, or alternatively, a doubling of PSA.

I'm also pleased I went down the RARP route, even though the operation hasn't been a complete success and there are still some naughty cells in there lurking around. The follow up option of salvage therapy seems a reassuring option.

I didn't have a pint last night to think over the implications but a glass of Port Charlotte went down nicely.

Hi Adrian

It's great news that you are still undetectable and can relax  at least for another 6 months !

On the misleading statements by surgeons, I once saw a video by Dr Scholz in which he said that the prostate surgeons make a living by being very very skilled at doing those operations. Although he is not a fan of surgery even he acknowledged that it is a very impressive achievement to be able to remove a prostate without killing the patient. But that does not necessarily make them experts in all aspects of prostate cancer (although of course many of them are) and so they are quite capable of getting things wrong.

Best wishes

Kevin

Hi Adrian,

My final Gleason remained 7 (3+4).

Unfortunately as very much a glass half empty person my anxiety is not improving.

I don't think there's much I can do about it!

Wishing you and everyone else continuing undetectable.

All the best,

Mel

Pleased to hear your good news Adrian. You deserve it. You’ve supported me and many others on here especially when we’ve made our tentative first posts on joining this club no one wants to be in.

Brilliant news, so pleased for you. You Gleason 9 lads are so special. David ( husband) is 10 years on from diagnosis, his last PSA was <0.1 Thank you for all your support and posts, they are invaluable, when I can get on the site that is.

Hi Adrian congratulations on your last undetectable I have been looking for your updates but must have missed the post.

Good to go on 6 monthly testing the anxiety only peaks twice a year then 😂😂

It must be well worth a desertion of the wagon if you haven’t already done so.

All the best & a merry xmas to you & yours.

Jeff.
