Dad Diagnosis

Hi Everyone,

Thought I would do a little update.

Dad had his Brachytherapy yesterday, bought him home this morning 🙌

He has also finished his 4.5 week stint of external radiotherapy this morning 🙌🙌.

As of now he has finished his treatment (although he will still be having hormone injections every 3 months for the next 2 years).

It's been a tough 7/8 months and a really tough last few days but he got through it.

He seems a little bit snappy (understandably). A part of me feels like we should celebrate that his treatment has ended (when he is feeling better) to acknowledge his bravery etc. another part of me isn't sure and feel like he might just want to pretend like it never happened.

What are your guys' thoughts on this when it was you finishing treatment?

Weird, in a nutshell. After months of fussing from the NHS and stress from me, it was all over. So, just to generate a bit of stress, I focused on the next PSA test (4 weeks after LDR brachy at my request). It was fine (undetectable), as was the next one. I've got another 8 months on HT (for 2 years in total) and I am counting.. down... the.... days !

Only after HT finishes and testosterone returns will we all know if the cancer was killed off or the HT was merely suppressing it. It's early days, but I'm quietly hopeful.

I wish you and your father the very best of luck.
