Hi, Anyone heard of or tried colodial silver? A friend suggested taking it, but my search for opinions on the internet, proved inconclusive

I tried it for post R/T problems but doubt it helped.

Not heard of any P.Ca. benefit if that's what you are looking for.

But if you find anything useful pls let us know http://community.prostatecanceruk.org/editors/tiny_mce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif

It is spelt COLLOIDAL and is basically like Epsom salts but with bits of silver in. Was used by doctors about 100 years ago until they invented proper antibiotics. It is not recommended by many people these days as some of the side effects are permanent. I think Snuffy Myers had something about it in amongst his views on 'alternative' treatments and I read about it when looking up another magic treatment suggestion (did we have a member who swore oxygen killed PCa?) - colloidal silver was listed as one of the quack remedies.

Personally, aside of the side effects, I can't imagine what a natural antibiotic could do to cancer cells although I could see some benefit in trying it for inflammation or infection problems as long as it was a very short course. It ain't gonna cure PCa though!

It's just that I am a member the SCA (Straw clutching association). Thanks for your thoughts

Is the same true of Lemon and Oregano?

I don't think I have ever read anything about lemon and oregano but some of the others know much more about diet than I do. I am a lazy cook. 🔪🍕

Hi Dave,

If there was some food or supplement that really whacked out P.Ca. I'd think we'd know about it.

Citrus Pectin has been looked at but in the quantities we could actually consume it hasn't proven a definite advantage. That said, lemon is good for you in sensible quantities.

Oregano was discussed on the forum a few years ago. Like mint & some other herbs it helps reduce inflammation. Particularly if you eat meat & cheese. ( Lamb + mint sauce has merit to reduce the fattiness ). It is understood now that  reducing inflammation helps us.

These are  sometimes recommended :

Curcumin

Resveratrol

Fish oil

Possibly Pomegranate juice ( although no proven studies I know of )

Avoiding inflammatory foods.

If you eat a high meat & Dairy diet & egg yolk diet , then an anti-inflammatory supplement could help a bit.

Some us  just try to avoid the inflammatory foods which may help progression of P.Ca.

There is /was a cocktail of herbs ( Zyflemed (sp ? ) which some men have tried. Again, if your diet is Omega 6 rich & you eat meat & dairy then such things might reduce inflammation a bit. Avoidance just seems easier.

Problem is,  getting such herbs & spices in the digestive  system into the P.Ca. cells to do actual damage. Thus slowing progression is likely the best we can get from such supplements. By altering the environment in which the P.Ca. has thrived pre-diagnosis.

We going to go through every herb , plant &  spice there is ? http://community.prostatecanceruk.org/editors/tiny_mce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-smile.gif

To save time http://community.prostatecanceruk.org/editors/tiny_mce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-smile.gif, I'd check this site where interactions and unwanted side effects are noted.

As I said, if there was a specific cure then we'd have heard about surely ?

I don't want to put you off but you could waste a lot of money and possibly do harm.
