Hi. AUS operation was the best thing that happened to me. Know of one other who also has implant and is extremely happy with result. I believe over 95% of people who have AUS are very satisfied.
Hope this helps

Hi, Steve had a 12 month (post op) follow up meeting with urologist today, mainly to discuss his ongoing incontinence issue which is considered severe.  Basically urologist confirmed what we suspected that it’s not going to improve on its own at this stage. Statistically he’s just one of the unlucky ones (5 out of 100 men remain incontinent post RARP).

options are to either ‘live with it’ or consider surgery to implant an AUS device….

so, anyone on here had this procedure/living with an AUS and willing to give any insights please?

    thanks

      Have you read Ulstermans conversation?

      https://community.prostatecanceruk.org/posts/t28232-At-last--my-penile-implant

It covers most of your questions.

As far as I'm aware there are only two or three blokes on here who've had an implant. At one time I was considering having one but decided against it. Invicorp does the trick for me.

I am in the process of getting in the que for an implant.   I just want to see if I can try invicorp .  I don't think it's available here in Canada.  Nothing else has worked successfully for me since my radical prostatectomy , almost 3 years ago now at age 71.     Sounds old , i know, but I'm very fit and active for my age .

Can you tell me how your partner feels about your implant ?  Does it feel normal to the the touch ?     Is the length and girth much different?   Does it look normal to others ?

I'm also concerned about never riding a bike again !     What other side effects might I encounter ?     There was talk about having to wear loose fitting pants/shorts etc.     Any truth to that ?

I get the feeling that some of the doctors are glossing over some of these issues.

Sorry for all the questions , but I want to know all the facts going in.    If anyone can answer any of these questions  I'd sure appreciate it .

I've already learned a lot from all the posts in the short time i've been on this site.   Thank you all for that !

I've got the penile implant.  In my view, it should be viewed as a last resort.  If you can get invicorp in Canada, I'd recommend that.

            Thanks Dave !

I'm also interested in the latest injection drugs. I've had a radical prostatectomy , so none of the standard pills will work for me. I'm in Canada and have tried Tri.mix and quad mix with limited success. The injections get me an erection , but not hard enough for penetration. I'm sure others have gone this way before, to try every possible solution before resorting to the implant scenario. I'm seeing a lot of mention about Invicorp and Caverjet .

Does anyone else out there have a "silver bullet" for me to try ?

Thanks in advance . Sky Pilot

              Hi All

I am 5 yrs post radical prostatectomy and doing fine except I have a degree of ED due to venous leak. I can get by if I use a ring, but my wife doesn't like it.

Viagra isn't a total solution and I HATE feeling like I have a heavy cold.

I spoke to a consultant about surgery and he said it wasn't recommended because the penis grows more blood vessels, negating the benefit after a couple of years. He said the only solution is an implant, but I am nowhere near bad enough for that.

Is anyone aware of any new advances in this area, or surgeons who are confident of a good outcome?

I had robot assisted prostatectomy 3 years ago, suffer from mild incontinence and Erectile Dysfunction. Everything was tough - difficult surgery, long recovery, incontinence, erectile dysfunction - and we never thought we would  return to our pre-surgery days. But here we are still having sex, different but with unintended benefits. We had to learn to live with new normal which we managed.

                  A few useful comments:

Loss of nerves during surgery does not stop you enjoying sex in many forms, even if you are incontinent.

You can masturbate or someone else can masturbate you to orgasm without and erection.

There are many ways of creating an erection: Viagra or similar, injections, implant and lastly but not the least a VED (Vacuum Erection Device).

Penetrative sex is possible, but if you use a pump you have to adapt how you make love - imagination and a sense of humour helps.

If you are on HT your libido will take a hit but hat does not mean you can't pleasure your partner and get pleasure from skin to skin contact.

With all this to think about, having a new partner will need some thought. I am no expert but I think it is important that you take your partner into your confidence as soon as you feel she is ready to chat. If there is a connection and mutual love and respect, the desire to please each other can be amazing. Trust your instincts and good luck.

Ian, I was diagnosed at the age of 46 in November 2016.  Now, just over 8 years later, I'm fine with an undetectable PSA.

I had a prostatectomy and was regraded Gleason 9, pT3bN0M0. I had positive margins, peri-neural spread.  It wasn't a good place to be.

I had salvage radiotherapy and hormone therapy.  I had radiation proctitus, bowel and bladder incontinence.  My erectile dysfunction resulted in a penile implant.

I now lead a normal and healthy life.  So, don't lose hope and don't despair.  The NHS did a wonderful job sorting me out.
