Penile implants

User

Hi

Does anyone have any experience with penile implants? I haven't had much success with injections and pumps and i'm thinking of getting an implant soon. I had non nerve sparing surgery in march this year.

Thanks

Hi

Suggest contacting Doug (username DT3993). I think he is still subscribing to the message board but I haven't heard from him recently. Perhaps send him a private message and see if he wakes up!

Cheers

Tony

Hi Haggis

Doug, DT3993 here, Tonypw sent me a private message that you had posted about penile implants.

I finally had mine fitted in August 2014 and 3 mths down the line things are getting back to normal, feeling like a sexual man again.

I am more than happy to chat about willy implants with you as well as if you can find all my other posts and there is a member called RugbyDave who has kept a blog about his implant if you can find his posts. His blog was a great inspiration to me in my decision to go ahead with mine.

Ok m8, send me a private message if you want to, or keep it public, your choice.

Cheers

Doug

Sensible but I am conscious that ED support may be different in Australia and as we don't know what you have tried I am not sure that you know what's available, what else you could be doing in the meantime, etc. For example, you say the injections weren't successful ... well, when the nurse injected you did it work? It may simply be your technique. Have you been able to try MUSE pellets? What about the other brand of injection that is the same as but different to Caverject (I forget the name). And finally, what do you find isn't working with the pump? Have you given it a proper chance as again it could be down to technique.

Haggis, I think you are being far too impatient and will struggle to find a reputable surgeon willing to do this for you at such an early stage, especially if you are still on hormones. A penile implant is irreversible and the mechanics would prevent you from being able to have the semi-natural erections that may still be possible otherwise.

You don't really say what you are doing to help yourself or what help you are getting to regain function but really, you are only 7 months in!!!!

Hi Lyn

If i am honest yes i would definitely say i was impatient but i won't be rushing into this and as you said finding a reputable surgeon would be hit or miss. The surgeon who carried out my RP said to wait a minimum of 12 months before doing anything and i will heed that advice, i suppose i am just getting the ball rolling and weighing up all options and that has probably been out of frustration.

Hi Haggis

How are you getting along these days, any movement down below starting yet?

I finally met up with Rugby Dave at last and discussed our implants and performance and got tips on how to use the up and down buttons better.

Take care and let your followers know how your getting on.

Also had my latest PSA result and undetectable again, so another year of 6mth PSA checks and if all clear then discharge from hospital clinic to GP surveillance.

My husband and I decided to go the route of penile implant following his prostate cancer in 2012. We could not be happier. We flew to American to have the procedure done by an expert in treating the condition. It takes a wee bit of time to learn how to inflate the device, but now we can have sex whenever we'd like. That hasn't happened since we were young! We both wish we had looked in to the op sooner. Getting excited to be intimate, only to have viagra and injections fail time and time again was devastating.

Excellent result. Well done on getting the results you both wanted.

Hello Michael did you try the MUSE pellets and / or the Vitaros cream ? If they didn't work then it is likely the injections wont work either . But I just wanted you to know the injections aren't awful !! They not pleasant but a means to the end ( excuse the pun ) if you know what I mean . Ive had 80 - 85 % success with them ,but as with you nothing else seems to work except pump which is annoying . But im only 4 months on
