So the Wiz does us proud again, reporting his findings on Olaparib and the impact it can have on advanced PCa including for men not carrying the BRCA gene.

Never forgetting my friend Spurspark who was supported so well by Professor De Bono and may in some way have contributed to each breakthrough that benefits men dealing with PCa now xxx

Really interesting Lyn, I have thought for a long time that not just through the BRCA Gene that Breast, PCA , ovarian cancers could be some how linked and therefor cures could maybe be linked.

Shame I couldn't read it all but nonetheless very interesting Lyn.

Love the thought of spectacular results too. Bring it on.

Lyn

like Allison I could only read the first paragraph, I don't get a newspaper anymore and do not want to subscribe so I will just have to wait until this article becomes free to the public.

There was some talk about this drug on the genetics of cancer course just recently, along with a test that is in trials to "map" cancer patients genetically and identify which of the specialist target drugs will work best. I suppose it could be called Bespoke treatment. The test that they are looking at in trials has already prompted Oncologists to treat other cancers with drugs designed specifically for something else with amazing results so I will be thrilled if PCa sufferers can also benefit.

Herceptin is also being used for those identified with BRCA gene.

A young woman I know is being treated with Zoladex for fybromyalgia very succesfuly, I have had my health improved dramatically by the biologically engineered drug HUMIRA, at age 48 I was told I would be in a wheelchair by age 60 and here I am at 57 going to the gym 5 days a week arthritis in remission and with no signs of the psoriasis that blighted my life since the age of 18.

There was a short article about the genetic testing in a paper I read at my brother's house 2 weeks ago, I think they get the Mail so I will see if I can find a link for that too.

Thanks Chris an interesting read, I am really fed up that I can't find the article I read in the Mail on either 24th or 25th October, it was only a small article on about page 4. It was a genome test and was called something like MRIS .. it was being used at a hospital/university research facility in UK.
All I can find now is articles on Prolaris by Myriad genetics and Genomic health Prostate score test These are both products privately used in USA during diagnosis to enable Men to allegedly make better informed decisions on their treatments, they map the genome of the individual patient's cancer and from that can tell if it is low risk or high risk in terms of aggression .
