Water-Infection?

User

Hi All, i'm on my third set of antibiotics for a water infection which we cannot seem to shift.

I had my RP around 30 months ago & wondered if anyone knows is there any connection with water-infection problems after RP?

As always if in doubt get it checked.

What you described happened to me in the three months post op. Have a look at the link below highly unlikely it is quite rare but when I looked into it there were guys who were suffering 2 years post op.

Hi Fenman

Fortunately a water infection is something I have managed to avoid so I am unable to offer any advice.

If you remember our PCa situations are very similar, age and treatment etc, so I thought I would just say hello. Water infection aside I hope things are working out for you.

Sending best wishes.

Is a water infection a urinary tract infection? I am assuming so and if so you need to make sure you are getting the best antibiotics as some are more sensitive to different bacterial strains. Also how long are you taking the course of treatment? I have been a long time suffering if UTIs and am now on a prophylactic dose every day. But I still had two UTIs recently and it took a longer course to quell the devil. They are painful, and persistent. Check too there is no urine retention as this cerastes a resevoir where the bacteria can be hard to shift and/or diabetes or high sugar levels which feed the bacteria. Comeback if you want to discuss further

Thanks for the reply Chris. I do hope its NOT anything like your link. Bit scary!!
My water infection has been going on a good few months now & wondered if they was a link with RP as i have never had a water infection before.
Symptoms include pain around waist, feeling tired all the time etc etc, these go when on antibiotics but urine test 7 days after the coarse finished shows there's still blood urine. I'm on 3rd set pills now but got no confidence it will clear up or my Doc sorting it.
I think tomorrow I will ring my specialist nurse to see what she says. I'm having my PSA check on Tuesday (6 month) & week later back to Adders routine appointment to see nurse as usual.

Hi Rivertweed, yes i recall we were very similar & clad your going on OK.Time seams to fly faster than ever. Life's good for me with undetectable PSA & no health issues till now, what more can you ask for!!

Thanks. Eric

I contacted my specialist nurse today & she says its very unlikely the infection is connected with RP as its now been 2.5 years since op. As Yorkhull said, sometimes it will take a long course to clear this up.
At least i got out of my Adders app as she asked the same questions as last time & i gave the same answers as last time.

PSA next week & results at the end. Fingers crossed!

The nurse was very observent, she said you got some bits missing! Made me laugh. Results next week.gingers crossed.

I got the results of the x-ray a few weeks back & was told "no further action"

So what next an appointment at Hinchingbrooke with Oncologist. Well today was that day, had an Ultra-Sound of Bladder & Kidneys then on to the Cystoscopy. This i remember was not very pleasant due to the PCa. But this time was prity much pain free & i didn't know he had started!
Her commented on a nice job on the seam-stitching as i was the first he had seen with no Prostate before the camera entered the bladder. Had a look round & all over in 2 mins. Got dressed then told me the results of everything done.

Great news everything is normal no prob at all! The conclusion was a small % of men have a higher blood count in the urine than most. They were very happy with everything & discharged me.

The whole family are well chuffed.
