So last Wednesday got latest psa result <0.01,good news. Friday went to see the lovely Wendy my E/D nurse,3months ago she put me on Cialis tadalafil 20mg once a week, which was an improvement on the 50mg a day sildenafil, not least because side effects were less, ie blocked nose flushed face, sometimes headache,so a lot less of all that, and the 20mg cialis can last up to 36hrs,which it did for me, but still only about 80% of an erection, so,in perhaps the vain hope of regaining the missing 20% she's now given me Vitaros 3mg/g cream, which is quite new on the market and should only be applied once a week, but she's kept me on the cialis as well, but must leave at least 3 days between each, as yet I haven't tried the cream, read the paperwork and its applied at the tip into the opening with a sort of syringe that comes with it. Am wondering if anyone else here has tried it and what they thought, expect the lovely Lynn will know something of it,I'd be well surprised if she didn't,I'll give it a couple of days before I try it and let you know later. Onwards and upwards, Diesel x

Reminds me of when I was young and newly married.

Reading romances in those days (60s and 70s) and watching films it seemed as if everybody in the world was declaring their love out loud (my other half isn't one of those!) or having sex that lasted hours at a time, or made love 2 or 3 times a day (we didn't!).

The point I'm trying to make is that "normal" in a book or on the screen wasn't really what real life was about but for many years I was annoyed that others appeared to be enjoying a different, romantic and more fulfilling sex life than i had.

It took me a long while to realise and accept that love doesn't have to be displayed in a sexual fashion, nice as it is and what is normal for us isn't normal for others, just different.

We have been married for over 45 years and are still very much together.

Hi Diesel, it is a cream version of Caverject in that it has the same active ingredient but if it works will be more popular than having to self-inject. Things to be aware of - you should use a condom if engaging in oral sex and (if your partner has a poor reaction such as vaginal or anal soreness) use a condom for intercourse as well. Be aware of the risk of priapism, especially as you were already at 80% function - once the erection has lasted three hours or more you should start thinking about cold showers, cold pack, taking a brisk walk, climbing up and down the stairs etc. if it goes on for 4 hours, you need to go to A&E .... don't hang around any longer. I hope it is successful x

Hi again

I just wanted to reassure you that your question is not at all inappropriate far from it I bet lots of men would ask a similar thing and many women would be keen to understand the answers!

I am sure you will get very varied responses.

What I can say is that it is not essential for either or both parties to achieve a climax to have fulfilling and enjoyable sex. Pleasing each other or yourself when necessary is what counts and if that takes 2 mins or 2 hours in any way or variety of ways for the marathon sessions with or without either or both reaching orgasm then so be it.

The surgery you have had does change a lot of things so I am sure what is happening to you is common and absolutely normal.

All the very best

Hi Rivertweed, If there is a "Normal"as far as sex is concerned then I would say you are absolutely normal, there are infinate numbers of 'Abnormals" or what society would describe as such, and no doubt a similar number who would describe their acts as perfectly "Normal" but as far as I'm concerned you are no different from any of us on this forum,so be positive and be happy. Diesel. PS thanks to all for your comments.

Hi Diesel

My ED nurse has just recently prescribed Vitaros for me as well.  I have tried it once so far but didn't get past floppy stage.  She did warn me that it might take two or three tries before success.  We will have to compare progress.

I have been proscribed with Muse (alprostadil) urethral sticks of 1000 micrograms dose. You stick one down the old boy, press the plunger and within 10 minutes have a very good erection which lasts for about an hour and a half - extremely effective!

Roddy, Vitaros cream or Vitaros injections? The cream seems to be getting better reviews at the moment.

Gregory, great news that Muse is working well for you but I fear you in a minority :-( The advice re condoms applies to Muse users as well i think.

Sf2, believe me - once you have sat in A&E having had to explain to a smirking receptionist why you are there and watching the staff wander past stifling their giggles, it soons wipes the smile off your face. Being presented with a doctor holding a large syringe with a huge needle for the purpose of drawing blood off the engorged penis was enough to put John off for life!

In all seriousness, Lyn, I know it would be no laughing matter. However, it is not difficult to imagine the reaction of staff to any poor man with that predicament. And if you told your mates - well you wouldn't, would you?

To be fair, I enjoyed the spectacle but John felt that I could perhaps have been a little more supportive 😡

Yesterday I tried the Vitaros cream, in my naivety I expected instant transformation to rampant stallion, not so,so quietly pulling up my pants thought I'd give it a few minutes, sure enough within twenty minutes, stirrings occurred, whipped off the pants eureka, erections R us, in need of appraisal and kind words of encouragemeant I flew upstairs to show my wife, look at this I said, performing the windmill effect with my erection in a clockwise direction, she smiled sweetly while towelling herself down still naked, what an opportunity I thought. "Don't come near me with that she said "I've just had a shower," though I did think she looked quite pleased,I know I was.So for me it works well, no side effects, just a bit of slight tingling which was actually quite pleasant, so if any of you get the chance, next time you see your e/d nurse go for it. We go away in two weeks for a few weeks in the sunshine, I will be leaving the pump at home this time. Best wishes Diesel x.
