Bladder & urethal removal

Refering to my post on urethral cancer, one suggestion is the total removal of my bladder & urethra & inserting a tube draining into a bag fixed to my waist. Has anyone had this done & if so what were the disadvantages? Was there any control of flow? How often did the bag need changing? any other points would also be welcome

Bumping this for Jayt.

Has anyone got any knowledge of this procedure?

Have you ever heard of it?

Hi Jim

Have some knowledge although limited. There is a small bag stuck comfortably to your skin where the tube comes out so that the urine automatically drains into it. There will more likely be a small tap at the base of the bag so that you can empty it easily when necessary. The bag only needs changing daily/ alternate days.

I'm sure if you ask to speak to the urology specialist nurse she will be able to give more help.

Hope this info helps to some degree.
