Bearded tits! Minsmere? You are indeed fortunate. Hows the running going? Planning anything In Canada?

And thanks to you and kevlar, (where is kevlar these days), I am running again, without leaking, result. You have both been instrumental in motivating me, thank you.

Great to see you out having some fun with the bird watching. What a nice thing for your friend to do.

I confess I know about as much on birds as I do on running but I have become a very keen learner. My brother and SIL are both keen on birds so in France last month I got my first taste of the hobby. I am in danger of becoming obsessed ... such beautiful creatures and so many different types. I wanted to post pictures on here too but had to limit my excitement to facebook and private e mails to friends.
My two favourites from that trip were the purple heron we managed to see catch and eat his breakfast one morning and the Montagu's harrier a bird of amazing grace, as an ex glider pilot I was enthralled by it's soaring skill and how it converted height using its streamline shape into great speed to swoop and catch its unsuspecting prey. I will be going back next year much more aware and hopefully having learned more between now and then.

best wishes
xx

glad to hear you are back bounding the streets.

have found a 10k at sprucemeadows which is a international showjumping arena, so am thinking about it, but would have to get up at 6.30am to go and enter as its a 45min drive, wife not to impressed though but I may never get the chance again, it will be hard as its 3000feet higher than where we live

the bearded tits where at hickling broad along with the cranes
