Hello Everyone!
I have made a couple of posts recently, and because I'm new, was advised to introduce myself, here goes!
Diagnosed this year on 01 April, (4 days after my Father had died, yes I've had better weeks)!
Aged 56 at the time, with no hereditary history or obvious symptoms
PSA 6.2, Gleason 7 (3+4), Staging T3a.
Easy decision, opted for a RRP which was done on 25 April (NHS).
Post op, home 24hrs later, 5 days later back in hospital hemorrhaging from my penis and a nasty urinary infection (back home 24hrs later).
Catheter, removed 10 days post op (that hurt - I imagine that the Nurse starts her lawn mower first time every time). She also told me that the post op biopsy results were in, which revealed clear surgical margins!
First post op meeting with the surgeon on 26 June. Good news confirming that the cancer in only 1.2ml which was confined to the capsule and to the surgical margins. Nerve sparring on one side. I also had a very good level of continence almost immediately. Prescribed 20 mg Cialis with Vacuum Pump training.
First PSA test results 29 Jul, 00.000000 that for me was such a relief, the surgeon saild he had only seen that once before.
03 Aug, Penis pump training with a pump on prescription to collect!
From an oncological perspective, I am pleased / relieved with the outcome so far (as is everyone else).
No continence issues and I'm optimistic that my ED will become a thing of the past!
My surgeon has moved straight out to 6 months for my PSA tests as he has said " I'm not concerned about the cancer" he did indicate that I had a 20% chance that it could come back! I'm focusing on the 80% chance that it wont!
I want to get involved and give something back, so you will see and hear more of me!
