Hi after six cycles of cabazataxesl my oh was admitted to hospital 48 hours after cycle 6

They said it could be infection and put septis on notes

On Friday we visited our hospital for routine visit but didn't see our our oncologist which when any negativity is felt

It's always when we haven't seen our oncologist but someone else?

Anyway his thoughts were treatment no 6 had taken its toll and caused the weekend in hospital .

He had decided to dilute the chemo as it is working but we have a big problem with Anemia we are booked in for transfusion on Wednesday but my oh is struggling ?

Also the worring thing is treatments are running out what after cabazitaxel I mentione abiaretrone which is what we have been told

In the past but I got the impression that it wouldn't do much good ?

We see our oncologist on Friday whom I'm hopeing will make us feel a bit more positive like she has in the past.

hang on in there, you have had the dark sky and you have had the latest storm so next you should get just a little ray of sunshine. I hope so becaue you both deserve it so much.

Your Oncologist thinks this Chemo is working but just hitting your OH really hard, so reducing the dose is probably a good next step. The next treatments might depend on how things go over the next cycles of chemo.

This is going to be a really tough time for you supporting the Man you love. It is incredibly hard to watch them struggling to get through the normal daily routines when their energy level is so low, I know if you could do every little thing for him you would in a heartbeat but you cannot.

You must try and take time to look after you too, your strength both physicaly and mentally will be the backbone of his.

Know that we are thinking of you and wishing you all the very best for your meeting on Friday.

Good luck on Friday Sue and husband.
I will be thinking of you and hoping your oncologist can reassure you.

Very best wishes to both of you

Hi thank you for your kind words.
My oh is very fatigued he has had a blood transfusion today
Because hits platlets are low 41 he has lost some blood in his stools so
Doctor ordered blood test but he only had one done two days ago and the request on the form
Is the same as usual so I'm presuming they won't find anything they didn't spot on other blood tests
I'm concerned a platlets count of 41 ?
Will the transfusion today help the platlets ?
Hemoglobin as 61 that's too llow too !
This is a hard ride on this roller coaster 😥

those blood counts are low but not the worst I have seen. The transfusion today should boost them at least for a while. There are other things they will be checking like his protein levels and inflamation markers all of which can tell them how active his cancer is right now and just how his body is dealing with all that is being hurled at it.These tests can be repeated almost daily in some cases. What are the medical team telling you just now?

Stay strong

Hi had appointment today with oncologist she thinks it may be chemo that's making the platlets so low and not the cancer so my oh is having three units of blood next week and if bloods ok chemo but lower strength will continue .
We did talk about future treatments and there may be some left in the box so feeling a little better in myself 😃
Psa is dropping the platlets have come up a little bit and Alps are down not sure what that means?
that was yesterday's blood results.
Will have to stop biting my nails nearly up to my elbows !

Hi after six weeks of no chemo and blood transfusions it seems it is the chemo that is causing problems and not the disease !
Bloods are up so is the psa but that was expected with no chemo but the plan is from next week
Lower dose of chemo as it does work on the cancer and four weekly cycles instead of three so we do have a way forward after weeks of unease .
We will see how this goes for a while hopefully it will all balance out .

Glad the problem has been identified and an alternative course of treatment advised, now let those nails start growing back!
