I am twenty months away from treatment by brachytherapy for my PC. Since that time I have had a lot of problems with my urinary system and more recently my bowel. After investigation I have received a diagnosis of radiation proctitis due to damaged caused by the radiation from the Brachy.
Has anyone else had experience of this and what treatment have you received to counter the symptoms of this. Mine include urgency to pass urine frequently and leaking or retention for which I have to self cathererise. This appears to be linked to gas or the bowel feeling full. there is also discharge of mucus and blood from the back passage.
Would appreciate the experience of treatments from anyone else who has had this, for this as at present I am getting passed from one consultant to another each saying that is the responsibility of the other.
