Chapter 3 - Post DaVinci and Onwards

User
Posted 11 Oct 2015 at 20:02

I had an appointment to see my Consultant last Wednesday to get the results following my DaVinci op. nearly 4 weeks ago. I feel very lucky and fortunate as my Consultant informed me that nothing more than we already knew about, was found. Gleason remains at 3 + 4 :T3a. The bad cells were on the edge of the gland but the Surgeon also removed tissue surrounding the gland in this area as a precaution and to avoid the chance of anything travelling. I was told that now is very unlikely. Both Consultant, who didn't perform the op. and Surgeon who did, are pretty convinced ,all has been removed.

Hopefully the results of the PSA test to be done in 4-5 weeks and those following will confirm that.

The recovery continues to go well and continence seems to be improving day be day. I feel fit and well, am enjoying walks every day, with a snooze in the afternoons. I'm a lucky chap and grateful to be where I am but aware too that things can also go wrong - fingers crossed.

As always my thanks for all the support you've given me and I'll continue to let you know how things go.

Great stuff. I'm just a bit ahead of you and had my second post op PSA results both less than 0.1 so hopefully you will get the same. It is a relief.

Wishing you a steady recovery.

Good news on the results. Get a prostate aerobic app for your mobile phone that has reminders built in. The one I use has 10 variations on the exercises and helps to focus on the exercises.

Thanks Chris

Thank You Mo, Pablito, Brian and Chris.

Got a letter this morning giving me a date for the PSA follow up on December 10th, so a bit longer to wait than the 3-4 weeks originally mentioned. It also refers to T3a rather than just T3 - I guess that 's because of the cells being on the margin but as previously stated tissue was removed around the outside of the margin so I guess they are being more specific in the letter.

I still have spare catheter leg bags and night bags so if they are of use to anyone out there or you know of any one please let me know via a private message and I'll arrange to send them on.

Thank You Paul. We seem to have a similar history, although your a youngster compared to me. I'll be quite happy to follow in your footsteps and get similar PSA results as you.

Long may they continue and keep up the good work,

Well here we are - December 10th - the day I've been for my first Post Op PSA Results and it's great news for me.

To quote my Consultant " It's about as good as it gets - your results were undetectable and un-recordable - less than 0.01ish.

Next test in 3 months.

Incontinence is virtually gone but I still wear a "just in case" pad. I must improve on my PFE's, I do tend to forget too often.

As for ED - well, I'm about to embark on the Viagra and Pump route.

I realise there's still a way to go and am very aware that I'm a very lucky guy, but I feel much relieved after today.

For all you good people that have been following my story and supporting me so well, I recently had my second PSA result since the op and am glad to report that once again It was classed as "unrecordable". Next test is in July.

Not much to report on the Viagra front and the pump has only just arrived - we're about to "make friends".

I remain a very lucky guy and am truly grateful.
