Waiting to have RP

I am 56 and recently diagnosed with localized prostate cancer Gleason 3+4

I am rather unusual in that my PSA was only 3.5 but had gone up from 2.2 a year ago !

I have decided to have laparoscopic radical, prostatectomy but my surgeon though very experienced does not do Da Vinci

I am not looking forward to the ED and incontinence that will inevitably follow but I've stocked up on various incontinence aids

I will be having the surgery in two weeks

How long should I expect to have the catheter for ?

Hello Sowen
I had an identical procedure done as you mid June this year , so am 4 months on ! Da Vinci was not available in Southampton .The Catheter was in 10 days and I was mostly continent immediately , and fully continent in 10 weeks. I'm completely impotent but can get erection with pump and injections. Please feel free to click on my picture and read my profile. As far as I know everyone else on here recently had the robot op.
Very very best wishes to you
Chris

Hi Sowems,

As Chris says you can click on my profile too. We have a similar presentation. I am 6 months on since my keyhole surgery. Incontinence has abated now and I no longer wear pads. Pelvic floor exercises are important.

Wishing you well. Keep us informed.
