Squeaky Bum Time Again....

User
Posted 08 Feb 2016 at 13:59

Hi everyone,

Just attended my 6 monthly review this morning...

I'm very pleased to say that my PSA level still remains stable at < 0.01 @ 20 months post op......... and breathe ...... Phew!

My continence still continues to improve, albeit very slowly despite various predictions that after 12 months that's as good as it will get.

For this reason I have decided to hold back on my consultant's offer of a referral for a possible sling implant for the time being.
Unless things deteriorate, or I'm struggling to cope ( I only use 1 light pad per day now ) I will access the situation in 6 months time when I go back for my review. The offer of referral will be still on the table at any time in the future....so no rush methinks.

On the ED front, once again only a slight improvement, but the main man has prescribed me Muse?? 500mg.
Apparently it's the same active chemical as Vitaros cream but in pellet form?

The main man says that he is disappointed with the Vitaros cream results he has seen and feels that I will be better off trying Muse instead..... we shall see.

The next step if no more improvement seen on the ED front will be injections which he will prescribe in 6 months time if I agree.
Meantime I still have me faithful old pump to use if all else fails.

I do feel a little guilty posting this after reading of all the problems some others have to endure.... but just hope that this will offer some  encouragement to others who are perhaps a few months behind me on their respective journeys.

Luther

Hi Luther,

1.  We are really pleased as well for you and for others.

2.  The suggestion used to be that 24 months down the line was "as good as it gets" for any recovery, not true in my case, not true for many others I suspect, still improving 2 years 8 months later.  Don't give up hope.  Keep trying things.  Experiment.

3.  See above re as good as it gets, exercise as often as you can, get that blood flowing.  Experiment.  Play.

4.  Don't feel guilty, we need some good news and those of us who are not doing as well, like to see that someone is beating the disease.

Congratulations again.

Luther

Good news and long may it continue.

I went straight onto 1000mg muse with mixed results then dropped to 500mg then tried to use three quarters of the 1000mg, Still experimenting still having fun.

Thanks Chris

I know several men who feel some guilt at posting good or great news, I think I can understand that to some degree, however I personally think it helps everyone to read positive or good news. I rejoice every time I read that a Man has had even a minor success with continence or ED issues, every bit as much as I do when someone reaches the definition of being in remmission or "cured" and every bit if not more when someone who has a terminal prognosis posts that they are still winning in their battle to stay alive.

I am so happy that you are the bearer of some good news

all the very best

Good news indeed Luther and please don't feel guilty.
All positive news is a boost to all of us but especially those browsing the forum who are new here and need to hear that life after RP is possible.

Well done.
