An important week ahead

User
Posted 21 Feb 2016 at 11:49

An important few days for me this week.

Tomorrow I have my first appointment with an ED Consultant.

I do get usable erections, but only first thing in the morning when i wake up! However, nothing later in the day i.e. intimacy has an impact, so it's a bit frustrating.

I'm currently on 2.5mg of Cialis daily, and I have unsuccessfully played around with the dose. I also have a pump which is only used in an attempt to keep my penis healthy and retain it's size.

On Wednesday, I get my second PSA results. This is 6 months on from my first PSA result which was 00.00, because of this my Consultant moved me out to 6 month testing. He said 6 months ago that he wasn't worried about the cancer! I sincerely hope he doesn't regret saying that to me. I'm not surprisingly very nervous.

I'll keep you in touch and let you know how both meetings go!

A GOOD SIGN.  Nothing that wakes you up in the night yet?  Don't fret, it may well come.  However, nothing later in the day i.e. intimacy has an impact, so it's a bit frustrating.  Did you mean NO impact?  Have you tried all and every sort of stimulation that you might not have needed or used or had a penchant for before?

I'm currently on 2.5mg of Cialis daily, and I have unsuccessfully played around (excellent, there is no one "cure/solution/dose" fits or suits all.  I believe in experimenting.)  with the dose.  Are you being prescribed Viagra?   I also have a pump which is only used in an attempt to keep my penis healthy and retain it's size. Is there a reason why you do not use it to prepare Little Pablo for action by Big Pablo?   Use of the constriction rings etc?

You won't know, but I ummed and aaahed for an age as to how to put that subtley, and then thought, "Ti reggub", I'll just make it simple.

Good news again.  He said 6 months ago that he wasn't worried about the cancer! I sincerely hope he doesn't regret saying that to me. I'm not surprisingly very nervous.

I'll keep you in touch and let you know how both meetings go! Please do?

Hi Pablo,

You're only one year post op.  The generally accepted thought/perception/belief is that at 2 years you will have made as good a recovery as you are likely to make.  FWIW, from experience, I can say that that statement is not necessarily true for every man.  The fact that you are getting stirrings shows that the equipment is capable of working.  It just needs some training, which can be fun!

Hello Pablo
I think of you quite regularly. Very best fingers crossed for your results mate. I too have ED clinic tomorrow ad will be trying the Viridal injection instead of Caverject. Same drug but higher dose. If they get the dose right we will be fine tbh. It works but just not quite enough. It's all frustrating isn't it -exactly why I was so anxious about surgery. But heh ho. I expect the RT will be the death of him for good haha.
You're doing great. Don't give up

I hope everything goes well to day with the Ed consultant and of course the rest of the week with test results etc.

Others have made some good points for you, every man does seem to recover at a different pace and with varying degress of success on both continence and ED issues. The good news is they are all still alive, every step of success after that becomes a celebration and rightly so.

Wishing you all the best for a celebratory week ahead

Andrology is anything to do with Penis. I'm sure this is an ED referral. It was for me. If it was bad news it would NOT be via Andrology. It would be Uro first or Onco second

Dr Google reveals that "Andrology" is to do with EF, so all helpful and seemingly nothing to worry about Pablo.

You don't have to respond to my post and implied questions on the forum, really, you don't. Lots of intimate and very personal stuff is discussed and there is no reason why anyone should put anything "out there" if they do not want to or see the need to.

This is one of the reasons I LOVE the Private messaging system. But even then, no need to respond to my post. It was a more rhetorical "have you thought of, or considered"?

Good luck, keep experimenting and stirring!

Nooooooooo! Keep the andrology clinic appointment - the ED nurse can be much more valuable to you than the consultant, especially for things like prescribing pumps and expensive items like injections because often the consultant says after a while "I will write to your GP that you need x" and the GP says "I'm not prescribing that out of our budget."

The Ed nurse or andrology clinic is a prescribing service .... please use it if it is being offered to you!

To Sandra, Chris J, Country Boy, Jayne Chris (Colwick), Louise and Mo,

Thank you all for your support and best wishes, I appreciate each of you taking the time to post.

Country Boy, I will answer your questions in a separate response.

Today, at my inaugural ED meeting my Consultant seemed encourage that I wake up with "stirrings" and initially, wants to pep things up by prescribing 20mg of Cialis as and when needed for an event! If that doesn't work, we will move to injections next!
All very logical and straightforward!

However, on my return home, I had a letter waiting for me from my Hospital for an appointment next week at the Andrology Clinic!!! I don't know what this means, and is wholly unexpected. I gave my blood for my PSA Test 10 days ago, and I can only speculate that my PSA Results have triggered a referral to the Andrology Clinic, it has left me somewhat concerned ahead of my meeting on Wednesday!!! No sleep for me over the next 2 nights!! Can anyone advise me what might be going on, please.

The referral letter received on Monday was a mix-up!

Today's PSA result remains undetectable!

Next test, scheduled for early September!

@ Lyn, The mix up was that I was booked in at 2 different hospitals for the same ED service, with one appointment having taken place already. Therefore, next week's new appointment had to be cancelled as in effect I'd had it.
To date I've managed to get everything requested, including a pump, Cialis 5mg daily and at the same time 20mgs for an event! For what it's worth, I don't think i'm too far away from a full recovery (re ED).
