Had a letter today from oncologist which says I have cancer node in my right hip no mention of left

Only other places are my ischium left and right

Seems a bit strange as the urologist showed me a xray when diagnosed last year of a cancer node in my left hip this was as big as my bladder

First time I have seen my staging in writeing

T3b N0 M1

Gleason 4+5

PSA 20.46

As I said only took a year

Hi nidge
Think you have got to query it
Could you not ring urologist then report what he says to your oncologist.
Are you still under Doncaster ?
Can you not ask to be transferred to another region as you have lost confidence in who is treating you now

I suppose when they were discussing the scans with you last year, they could have said it was in your left hip because that was easier than saying 'it is in your left ischium which is next to your hip'?

Despite what the nurse told you originally, in June last year you were told that you had mets on both sides so I suppose it is possible that the nurse was just sanitising the results - perhaps s/he doesn't like giving too much bad news at once :-(

B

I had an x-ray on the 11th March and my GP is still waiting for the report. They are now quoting 5 to 6 weeks to get a report out.

Hope you do better.

Thanks Chris

To be honest , and I know it's different in each area of the country , my GP has been completely uninvolved since investigations started in Sep 2014. No wonder it takes 6 to 8 weeks to get to your doctor. Any tests take a minimum of 2 weeks to be done at hospital, then the results have to get to your specialist , then an appt needs to be generated etc etc. Frankly I'm glad my GP isn't involved or I'd be 3 months behind in my treatment I expect. When I saw him in December last year , he didn't even know id had the op in June !!!!
On the other hand he just deals out pills and injections and support as needed which makes me feel quite lucky compared to others
