Rectum pain after RT

User

Hello all, my first post.

Finished my RT 5 days ago and was told that my bowel problems will get worse over the next 2 weeks but things will get better after about 6-8 weeks.

I am having real rectum pain problems and I'm asking if anyone has used or been recommended any suppositories for pain relief, if so which type.

Thanks

Hello Seank and welcome.
Hopefully somebody with the appropriate experience will be along with advice.

I'm sure there are a number of members who have had this problem. I believe it's called "Radiation induced Proctitis" and is common following your type of treatment. My husband had permanent seed Brachytherapy and suffered to some extent but things like proctasedyl helped him

Are you also having bleeding problems, irritation, difficulty passing a motion? All information will help with advice.
