ED after Radical Prostatectomy

I am 71 years of age who until my RRP in Sept 2014 was still sexually active, yet beginning to find maintaining an erection somewhat challenging so the fact that I might end up impotent did not unduly dismay me. Nevertheless, I like a challenge so as soon as I was able secured a reference to my local ED department, which has been very supportive. I have tried Viagra; don`t enjoy the headache and visual issues. I also played with Caverject; no problem with self injecting (surprised myself) but the aching penis rather dampens the enjoyment.

After trying these chemical solutions, I found that the Soma-Erect pump was just about perfect, save for the "hinge effect". Before surgery. my penis was of average length, I guess. Post surgery, I had lost maybe an inch/inch and a half. In consequence, achieving penetration be came a real challenge not because I needed the extra length but because it would not adopt the position I wanted, and stay there!

Not being one to give up without a fight, I am hoping someone with prior experience may be able to help me find a solution. I have spent what feels like hours surfing unsuccessfully for the answer.

My wife and I have a great relationship, so any solutions that don`t involve yoga like contortions (we are both in our seventies) will be much appreciated.

Hi
There is a great post on here called Erecting the erection. It has a lot of useful stuff on it. I'm only 49 and 17 months post operation. Still impotent but daily 5mg Cialis is allowing a bit of fun. I utterly admire your outlook on this at the age of 71.
I have the same pump as you and use it for daily erections but not sex. My size seemed totally normal for a year then disappeared rapidly for some unexplained reason. It's at least 2" shorter and nowhere near as fat. I miss rear entry andvwoman on top stuff due to my now lack of size. I've recently discovered a new injection called Invicorp 25mg which is a VAST improvement on Caverject and Viridal. I bought it privately. Check with your GP. Keep posting mate

Daves, have you tried Cialis daily dose (5mg) or event dose (20mg) as some find this more successful than viagra. In our house Levitra is the favourite - works quicker than viagra and you don't have to take it on an empty stomach so less planning needed.

Hi Daves

I hope to make progress on this part of the journey within the next few weeks. I had my robotic nerve sparing surgery 5 weeks ago today. I am already concerned that my penis has gone into total hibernation, infact my wife refers to it jokingly as my sleeping door mouse! I have an appointment with my GP at the end of the month to discuss what is available to help with ED and to avert long lasting shrinkage. I am reluctant to swallow the tablets as the side effects do not look good. I have already been advised by a physio at the hospital to consider using a pump to maintain "elasticity".
Not sure where I am going next so your post has certainly been helpful.

Best of luck. Brian.
