hi,when i went to see urologist today for my review,i asked him about a dexa scan for my bones,he said no,because i had my last zoladex injection  on the 11th april. its hard work asking for anything nowadays, whats the point of seeing the uro every 6months,all he does is give you the psa result, you can get that done at my gps, plus my gp is ok,you cant talk to some of these uros they have not got very good bedside manners, but my onco was great.cheers.

Hi Radar, sorry I am not sure what you are asking? Some men don't see the uro every 6 months but they perhapsd have a telephone consultation as needed. What you don't want is to be referred back to the GP because if it goes wrong again in the future, you don't really want to have to go back through all the referral procedures and end up on a massive waiting list.

My dad stopped seeing his urologist about 4 years post op I think, but then received a letter every year after his PSA just confirming that the PSA was still okay and he would be reviewed in 12 months time. In some areas you can ask to see your nurse specialist every 6 months instead of the urologist.

Are you still under an oncologist as well as a urologist?

thanks lyn,you are right i dont see my urologist next,my next appointment is in june with the urology nurse.but what i was asking about not having a dexa scan after been on zolodex for just over 2yrs,my last jab was on the 11th april, and he would not refer me for one because i have stopped ht,but it wont be for long because i am high risk and i will be back on,its the bone loss that does me head in and muscle mass with being a small guy it dont look good.cheers.
