Vacuum pump lubricant

I was diagnosed with cancer in March 2016 and have a robotic  radical prostatectomy in August. I am 49 and was diagnosed after being tested as my brother was diagnosed in January 2016. I had had no symptoms. I am currently practising with a vacuum pump for erectile dysfunction, I have been prescribed a SomaTherapy-ED vacuum pump. It came with the 'serious American doctor in the white coat and Stepford couples DVD'. Thankfully we (that's my partner K and I) had a demonstration with a rep which was enormously helpful, in fact I would say that this was absolutely essential. The pump experience is a mixed bag so far, but I am persevering.  Has anyone found a good alternative to the SOMATherapy - ED Lubricant?

KY gel, which is available from most supermarkets is as good as the original gel supplied with the pump. Trimming the pubic hair will help to get a good seal between the pump and body and a small amount on the tip of the penis will help the penis slide up the tube. Getting the pump started and sealed can sometimes be easier if you are in the standing position.  Just be aware that we are all different and you could get a reaction to different products.

Good that you had a demo, my first time using the pump and rings I managed to get a testicle inside the ring. Ouch. Some guys find using two larger rings keep an erection better than one small ring.

Thanks Chris

Hello mate
I have the somaerect and am 18 months on after op. I still use it as often as possible to keep things stretched although I've rarely used it for penetration as I don't like it or the rings. I just use it for " exercise " !!
Keep your pubes beard-trimmed short. When I wet -shave I simply soap myself up with normal hand soap down below and that is great. Lube is awful and gets sticky and claggy and horrible. Simply exercise whilst shaving. It's taken me this long to get erections back , and I still need Cialis , and I have lost size , but I dread to think where I'd be if I hadn't kept him healthy for all this time.

Hello.

I too have had the issue with the lube that you have.

I have resorted to using ` Emulsifying Ointment'  a neutral item that is obtainable over the chemist counter.

Very user friendly and I  recommend it to you.

Regards.

It depends - are you using the lubricant for penetration or to ease the rings on and off, to smooth the journey up the inside of the tube or to create a good vacuum between the end of the tube and your flesh? Best alternatives will depend on the main purpose you have.
