Rods versus pumps for erection

Good morning All. My first attempt at a post.....

Two years ago I had a radical prostatectomy and subsequently couldn't get an erection. I didn't get on very well with a vacuum pump, but initially injections were partially effective in producing an erection, but then had very little, in fact almost no effect, despite increasing the dose.

Now I've been offered surgical implantation of a pump or rods. I'm unsure about these options and wondered whether anyone out there could pass on any personal experience?

TURP then LRP in 2009/2010. Lots of leakage but PSA < 0.1 AMS-800 Artificial Sphincter activated 2015.

Hi Chris
Perhaps try the new Invicorp25 injection. I too had very varied results with both Caverject and Viridal ( Alprostadil ). My dose was eventually 40mg with random results.
I've used Invicorp 3 times now and really impressed with results , although daily Cialis is good for me normally. Surgery it seems is a drastic option , but being a fellow sufferer I understand the anguish this awful side effect of surgery has.

Thank you very much for your very helpful comments. I'm on 40 mcg Caverject and it does little other than make my penis red and achey/painful for several hours. I haven't achieved penetration in 2 years since my non-nerve sparing surgery, which does cause me great anguish. That was why in desperation I was wondering about the rod or pump implants that I've been offered.

I didn't have much success with the vacuum pump and it was a major turn-off for both of us.

Please may I ask, was your prostatectomy a non-nerve sparing procedure like mine? I ask because I was interested in your comment about daily Cialis. I don't know, but I'm guessing that it only works if there is any nerve tissue left?

Is Invicorp different from Caverject? If there's a chance it'll work, in your experience, do you think I should be asking for a trial prescription?

My op was nerve sparing so I was " lucky " however the cancer is recurring. I'm 18 months on and cialis is beginning to have good effect. However for a night away I like an injection.
In trials Invicorp has been shown to work in up to 70% of men where all else has failed. It is different and a mix of two drugs. One to supply more blood and the other to trap more blood. My hospital slowly trialling it but I got a private prescription in the end. Twenty pounds a go though. It totally works for me and ZERO ZERO pain. Viridal was agony. Good luck. PS I forgot to add that even though I got a private prescription I discussed it with my GP first. Don't take anything without his/her approval !!
