Anyone tried Vitaros (alprostadil) cream for ED?

Hi,

I had RP end August 2016, and have been on Cialis 5mg daily since then. Still very little happening on it's own accord , but have been successful using the vacuum pump, both for daily exercise and sex. The consultant has suggested trying Cialis 20mg for one-off events, but I just saw that there is a prescription cream, Vitaros, for ED. Has anyone tried this or know anything about it? I presume it's not available on the NHS.

August is too soon maybe to hope for real results , but I'd urge you to continue with daily cialis if they offering it. It's working for me 19 months on. It's important not to mix stuff without doctors advice. Alprostadil , whether it be cream ( Vitaros ) , pellets ( Muse) or injections ( Caverject or Viridal ) is all available on NHS. I only tried injectable and it sort of worked enough for penetration but side-effect pain was unbearable. I exercised with pump every day and am is 19 months post op. I was nerve spared. Cialis took ages to get but now works a treat with a soft jelly penis ring. I privately sourced the brand ew injection Invicorp25 which is the REAL DEALwell for me anyway ! It's so new my pharmacist can't find it in any of his books. I got it in London at £23 per injection for date nights. Full erection , zero pain. There is hope but you damn well have to chase it and not give up ever. I've also found that you have to keep things exciting to help the old fella recover. If you can , be adventurous and spontaneous ad willing to try new stuff. It helps. Good luck

As CJ said muse is a version of alprostadil, it comes in a plastic applicator that you push about 50mm down the eye of the penis and then push a button on the end of the applcator, remove the applicator and rub the penis between the hands, all quite painless.

From the reports from guys on here I don't think muse is quite as effective as the injections.

Stimulation is still important.

Thanks Chris. I was just curious as I'd not heard about the cream and for my money it's one of the more palatable options as I'm a bit squeamish about the injections. Just surprised that no-one had ever mentioned it. But as you say it's early days yet.

Just bumping this up a bit to see if anyone has actually tied this.

The data on it doesn't look that brilliant.

I'm now 12 months post robotic with 1 and a half nerves spared , on cialis 5 mg daily but again with no response yet.

So if anyone's had a go it would be great to know what the outcome was.

If you put Vitaros into the search box it brings up every post that ever mentioned it, plus the three existing threads.

Pencil case and Rivertweed have both tried it but without huge success. Russell B found it to be very effective. Like everything else, it is one of those 'try it, what have you got to lose' things, I think.

Hi, 

I have already used Vitarose. In my experience, it was one of bitter experience. I felt a terrible burning pain after using it. It took hours to reduce that pain. I read the user guide. There written that you may have burning pain, redness on your penis. I used 4/5 times with hope that it will disappear by using in time. but not. Then I stopped. I showed to the guide leaflet to the doctor. Even he surprised & suggested me to not to use that more.
