Post Op perenial pain

Hi, Im 56 and fit and healthy.

I had my diagnosis last October having been flagged up with non visible blood in urine at fostering medical. Gleason 3+4 at biopsy, and I opted for open prostatectomy which I had on 1st feb this year and it went well. I have had my histology results and they are all clear.

I have continued to suffer from pain mainly whilst standing in my perenium. This prevents me from walking for more than 25mins.

I realise this is 7 weeks post op but I cant go back to work like this!

After open RP you shouldn't really be expecting to go back to work yet - they reckon 10 - 12 weeks. John was 50 and still playing rugby, going to gym etc but it took him 10 weeks to be able to sit at the laptop for any length of time and 12 weeks to get clearance to drive from his insurer.

However, useful to know what causes the pain. You might have a bit of infection - have you asked the GP for advice? It may be all the jangled nerve endings in which case hopefully it will calm down although some are left with permanent nerve damage. Did you have any lymph nodes removed? If so, it could be linked to that - the remaining nodes may be struggling to cope. You have had a vasectomy amongst everything else so it could be the testes settling down. It could just be your body telling you that you are overdoing things.

If you were allocated a nurse specialist you could call him/her for advice. If not, ask your GP.

Ditto . . . I had my op (RARP) on 26th Jan 2017 and pain in the perineal area was one of my earliest (and longest lasting concerns). And, I have had no clear answers, in fact I have had no answers. I noticed it the day I got home when I went to the loo for a number 2. It got gradually worse, I couldn't sit on a dinner chair, it felt like I was sat on a stone. I was told that it would get better after the catheter came out. Since then it has got better and worse and better but has never quite gone away. I've had a couple of issues, the perineal pain, occasional blood in urine and lymphedema - I saw the surgeon, last week and he gave me no answers other than "you've had it worse than most but hopefully it will all clear itself up!" With regards to the possibility of it being an infection (which was what I suspected) they brushed that aside when I had no temperature and as it is now 8 weeks does that rule out infection? Sorry this doesn't help with answers but if you do get the answer I'd like to know what it is.
