Advice on pump and tension rings

User

Hi,

I wondered if anyone had any advice on using the pump, especially the tension rings. I received the Somaerect response II at the end of last week and have been using it daily since last Sunday. I seemed to get the hangof the pump straight away and on the third session decided to try what looked like the largest tension ring.

That didn't hold my erection, so I tried the next size down. That worked great for holding my erection but it felt uncomfortably tight, then the fun started when I tried to get it off!

Pulling the tabs did not result in my erection going down and after a 5 minute struggle and a lot of pain I got it off.

It was a somewhat off-putting experience and I am now wary of trying again.

Any advice/recommendations on size, types of rings and techniques would be welcome.

Thanks

I have tried several vacuum pumps in the past couple of years and spent a fortune searching for perfection. My favourite was a cheap one I bought off eBay at a cost of £7.00. I have since made my own and it is a perfect fit to my anatomy. I found a snug fit that my penis can expand into and fill the internal diameter of the tube works best for me. I use two gel rings that maintain the erection for 10 minutes before starting to lose firmness.

I alternate between using the vacuum pump and caverject. The pump makes a very firm erection that suites my wife. The caverject is great for prolonged foreplay but not too great for penetration as it doesn’t harden the glans and I have difficulty keeping it in during intercourse in the missionary position that my wife favours.

I am in my early 50's and suffered with erectile dysfunction and benign prostatic hyperplasia the last few years. I love Cialis. After ONE WEEK, I was urinating normal, and not waking in the middle of the night to go! After two weeks I was getting erections like a teen again, middle of the night, mornings and when I wanted sex. I couldn't be happier, no more pain, more sex and a happier wife. I have the same pump as you. Did you get any of the soft gel type rings with the pump, they are far easier to use than the white rings. On my first attempt using the rings I got a testicle inside the ring and the OH had to cut it off. I followed CJs suggestion about buying the durex gel rings, I found that they were more comfortable than the rings supplied with the pump. They perhaps do not hold the erection for as long but the sensitivity is greater. Some guys suggest using two larger rings rather than one small ring. I did finish up with a black and blue penis when the ring would not come off, use plenty of lube and the ring should come off without too much trouble.

Thanks Chris

Great advice above. I only use the durex rings now I have a reasonable election with medication. I have exactly the same pump as you. As Chris said I was told not to use the rings supplied with the pump. I was given some very tight but super stretchy jelly rings on a separate prescription. Remember for exercise you don't need rings. Just leave the pump on. But for sex you do need a ring. Keep your pubic hair very trimmed is best. With the jelly rings you can usually squeeze a finger in and ease them off. Visit the imedicare.co.uk site who supply the pump and rings. I think they have prescription codes also.

Sounds like you are not using enough lube markac, and/or did not pull the wings out sideways far enough. The other possibility is that you were actually maintaining a natural erection - what happens when you pump and then release the vacuum? Does the erection hold by itself for a while or does it droop immediately?

Thanks for the replies everyone, I will look into the durex ones. I tried a few different ones tonight, included in the pack I had with the pump was a clear gel one and that seemed to be the best one, if a little tight. It seems quite hard to get the balance between comfort and sustaining an erection.

Lyn - I had no nerve sparing and expected to have no erectile function at all after the op. This was true at first, no amount of physical stimulation seemed to do anything for me. However after some weeks I seemed to get a little response. Then I was given viagra to try and on second use I actually got a semi erection. It wasn't enough for normal intercourse but it was certainly encouraging. Bearing this in mind - yes I think you may have a point there. When I release the vacuum my erection does reduce immediately, but I do hold a semi-erection for about 5-10 minutes.

Another question if I may, all instruction says that you must take the ring(s) off after 30 minutes. However I cant see any info on when you can use the ring again afterwards. Do you have to wait fr a while or can you 're-inflate' straight-away and start again?

You are creating a tourniquet so it would be a good idea to leave at least a short while for normal blood and oxygen flow before using the ring again.

The warning about having the ring on for no more than 30 minutes is an absolute maximum - I don't think John could ever bear it for more than about 15 - 20 minutes! If you can have sex for a full 30 minutes with a ring you may actually be superman!

Lyn,

Shortly after posting I went on to the durex site to have a look at the gel rings, it says on there to wait 60 mins between uses.

Hi

I don’t know if anyone is still watching this post as it is a bit old.

I have just received the same pump And have just started us it yesterday.

I have considerable problems trying to stop the scrotum skin being sucked in. If this happens the testicles come under pressure and I have to release. If I try two or three times my scrotum becomes red and sore.

Any answers?

Hi Alan

I have a different pump but at first had similar problems. Also had a problem with kind of bulging at the base of the shaft when stsrting off. I have now had a lot of practice and got the knsck .

First trim or shave. Then put the pump on and push it down against the skin gently with one hand. With the other hand gently ease\stretch out a small amount of skin from around the seal, just a few mm. Then keep pushing down firmly and start pumping. Mine is a hand pump and I start with just a couple of pumps then rest, a couple more then rest etc. This prevents the bulging. Once I get a fair, maybe half erection I can pump faster. Then if just excercising, when fully erect after a couple of minutes realease and start again. after the initial inflation I can pump faster right from the start of the next. I believe several inflations\deflations allows a change of blood in the penis, therfore supplying more oxygen etc to the tissue rather than maintaining a continuous erection.

Just what works for me, hope it helps. Good luck.

Cheers

Bill

It’s good to have pubic hair trimmed short. I use soapy water when I’m shaving rather than lube. Pull your scrotum and testicles down whilst you stop the vacuum. It happens to me sometimes and it hurts I know. Failing that , the tube opening may be too large for your size , and at an extra cost you can get a smaller tube that inserts inside easily. It prevents pulling in stuff you don’t want. It’s available from imedicare.com

Thanks guys. I have tried most of those things.

I will try and shave a bit more. Ha, that is daunting if you haven’t done it before. I don’t think the cylinder is too big. It has two “comfort rings” in the end of the cylinder, one inside the other. I was very pleased to see that as the erection starts the inner ring is a little but on the small side       ;-)

I have tried hanging onto the scrotum but it gets sucked in anyway. Once it starts to get sucked in there is no stopping it. It then starts to pull on the testicles and there is no choice but to stop.

Ok I had the two rings and smaller tube for a while as I was getting a bend in my penis. But yes it then seemed too small after a while :-).

Don’t shave — you just need a cheap battery beard trimmer. I think if you practice pump position you may avoid this issue to be honest. It has happened to me but rarely dies these days. Good luck

Wow, I’ve got all this to look forward to next week.

Will I have to go for a bespoke fitting on Savile Row? But at least now my tailor won’t need to ask ‘Which side do you dress, Sir?’ any more, thanks to Dr Da Vinci. And I doubt I’ll need the ‘XLL Cylinder, Wide Penile Diameter, 11” available on request’ model in the brochure!

Cheers, John.

Hi John

I think they make the comfort rings a bit small to make us feel better.

Reminds me of the first firm to make condoms in different sizes. They were Large, Medium and ‘Trim’!

Ha ha

On a more serious note, I have realised my big mistake. Not holding the pump 45 degrees down. Makes a huge difference.

I still need more practice but it is getting better.

I have been looking at the aptly named ‘SOMAerect STf’ brochure featuring their selection of pumps, and there is a choice of models.

It seems that thanks to the ministrations of Professor Whocannotbenamedhere and his sidekick Da Vinci, I won’t be needing to order the Response II model with the 11” XLL Cylinder and Wide Penile Diameter tube (to special order) any more.

I am intrigued that they offer a free home demonstration of the product. I wonder what the rep looks like - not that I could do her any justice in my present condition! Don’t think I’ll go for that.

So I am swayed by the SOMACorrect Xtra, one size fits all, with different sized tubes if miracles happen.

Any experience with this model? It’s promoted as a Penis GYM - it will be the first time I’ve been ‘in’ one since I left school forty five years ago!

Cheers, John.

I got the Somaerect 2 response with the newer jelly rings. I did have to buy a smaller tube at one point but only cos I was getting a bend ( honest gov). If you read the erecting the erection post you’d have laughed. I had a demo in hospital. This ultra hot woman kept coming in and out and asking 70 yr old men in her office. I thought dear lord I hope it’s not her doing this. Next minute I’ve got Marilyn Monroe on her knees in front of me vwith a tight dress and red lipstick and showing me how to use the pump etc. I’ll never forget lol. She was lovely. Fair play to her. !!!!

Hi John

This sounds like the one I have just obtained.

I did have a home demonstration, it is not what you are thinking 😉😉  The chap was very knowledgable.

Is it from iMEDicare?

I have found that a pump takes some getting used to. It can be painful to start with

Yes, the brochure is from iMEDicare.

Does it come direct from them in a plain brown wrapper or do I have to pick one up from Boots or Anne Summers?

If it doesn't suit me I'll stick it in the dishwasher and flog it on eBay!

What are these Durex rings? Are they the ones that go round the scrotum too, like you see in some porno films?

I always remember I went to the Munich Beer Festival years ago and bought a 'Doc Johnson's Pulsating Cock Ring and Vibro' souvenir for Madam from Beate Uhse’s sex shop.

We only ever used it once as Her Loveliness complained 'It's like sitting on a food mixer!'

Cheers, John.

Hi John

I was lucky enough to get one of my GPs to give me a prescription for mine so it came from Boots!!

I was hoping it would be in a discreet box but no, it was advertised all over the box 😳😳.

I have come to the party late. I am using mine for what thay call “Penile Rehabilitation“ 😐

Yes, after pumping you put a ring on before you lose it  Just like the porno films, or so I’m told. 😉😂
