Well, isn't it a good job you went for the well man blood test !! If nothing else it gives you a starting point for future measurement

8.8 is high but the cause could have been infection or enlarged prostate. However, with the GP saying the prostate feels hard then it does need investigating so at least it's all going in the right direction (ie diagnosis)

Once the scan is done you may be offered a biopsy, which will give a score called a Gleason and that will tell you and the bods what level PC you have (if any)

Not much advice can be given just yet, not until you get more information, all I would say is, try not to worry or let it get you down.

There are lots of treatments available now, including old ones that have been tweaked and proven effective for some men with PC.

Once you get the MRI/Biopsy results please come back and tell us and I'm sure you'll get a wealth of advice and support.

Gary

Sorry to see you here, but best to go through the testing as you then know where you are.

I had a mpMRI.  Afterwards, I had a biopsy.  And then a prostatectomy.

I know it's a worrying time.  Hopefully it won't take them too long to put you through the system as you can then make a decision on a treatment plan, if one is needed.

Talk to the specialist nurses from this site - they're brilliant.

Gary, my PSA was also 8.8 final diagnosis was prostate cancer, BUT when you read up a bit there are some forms that are not aggressive and they can be small and slow developing. I am having no treatment, I have no symptoms, and the docs are simply watching how things go.

It was a shock at first, but now it's just something I have and I get on with my life. Try not to worry, easy to say I know, but things get easier as time passes.
