Evening all , this may seem slightly of PC subject . My husband 1 year post RP . And has recently been diagnosed with hereditary heamachromatosis...

I’m wondering if the iron over load of this condition contributed to his PC ?

Seeing his urologist and blood specialist next week , so will be asking .

Thank you

No one really knows what causes prostate cancer apart from being born male and there are probably many different things - environmental factors, western diet, genetic predisposition, some chemicals. I have never seen a research link to iron. What might b3 more interesting is that some of the symptoms of iron overload are also symptoms of prostate cancer; who knows but perhaps you have the iron problem to thank for him being diagnosed early with the cancer?
