Hi everyone so as I mentioned on another post Dad’s first chemo didn’t go ahead yesterday due to his heart rate being too high. Everyone (including the nurses) was gutted for him. It was a very, very difficult day. On the instruction of the oncologist I have arranged a cardiology appointment on Wednesday. Chemo is booked in for Friday but if oncologist says no, where do we go from here? I am fighting for my Dad and time is critical as the oncologist said without treatment we were looking at three months which is absolutely terrifying. Can I ask the oncologist about Abi or Enz? Do I keep fighting? Please help me.

Hello again Pen.

I can't answer your medical question but as far as continuing to fight that would depend on your dad wouldn't it.

While he is determined to give the treatment his all then yes, fight tooth and nail for everything going.

If the time comes when dad says he has had enough then all you can do is respect his wishes and get the hospice/Macmillan involve to make sure he is as painfree and as comfortable as possible.

All you can do is your best and I'm sure you are already doing that.

I hope somebody else comes along to advise you too

I feel gutted for you - it must be very worrying. I'd be on the phone to one of the specialist nurses first thing on Monday, but really you're going to have to rely on the consultants. The nurses from this site might have come across this situation before, or they might be able to help you structure the conversation you need to have with the consultants and which questions you need to ask.
