Rectal Spacers for RT

Has anyone got any experience of using rectal spacers, either solid or gel during the application of radio therapy. I am reading about their use in the States but can't seem to find much evidence of their use here. The general picture painted is that they might be of use to reduce or prevent toxicity in the bowel both during and long term after treatment.
