More Than One Cancer

Found out on 17th November 2017 that I have prostate cancer with a PSA level of 41.  Results of MRI scan found a problem with my lung, which the Consultant says is more of a concern than the prostate.   Since then have had 2 CT scans and lung biopsy last week, still waiting for results.   In the mean time  start Hormone Treatment today for 2 years and after six months have 28 days of radiotherapy.

Hi WM, Sorry you join us due to your PCa.

Do you have two cancers or do you mean that you have Prostate Cancer in two different places which can happen? In either case, do let us know the full diagnosis when available and how things progress.

Radiotherapy after 6 months hormone therapy suggests a prostate radical cure treatment which is only given if at least 10 years survival from prostate cancer is expected. That suggests lung is not prostate related, but tests result will confirm that or not, but some other issue that needs sorting more urgently.

Good luck

Hi OB,

They do not think that the cancer in the lung is related to the prostate cancer but has not been ruled out completely.

Will find out results of lung biopsy next week

Hi WM,

I'm in a similar situation. I was treated for PCa last summer, RT and HT, successfully with a rock bottom PSA after treatment, <0.01.

Just waiting for a PET CT scan to confirm whether I have another cancer or not.

Had a U/S scan for liver pain in Feb which found a 2" diameter growth on my right adrenal gland, on top of the kidney. It wasn't there 11 months ago on a previous scan.

CT scan found it wasn't the kind of growth I was hoping for, a benign adenoma and the density of the growth suggest it's a metastasis or other cancer. PCUK specialist nurses  said it's unlikely to be related to PCa as the PSA would be higher.

Radiologist suggested A PET CT scan which will show if it's cancer.

Just heard this on Monday, so bit of a blow.

Trying to keep positive by thinking how lucky I am they found it.

Hi Graham,

Sorry to hear about your setback, as you say they may have found it early.

Try to stay positive.

My second cancer in my lung is not connected to my prostate cancer, it has been found to be Mesothelioma Epitheloid asbestos related

Really sorry to read this Willie - I hope you have been pointed towards a reputable lawyer with experience in asbestos related compensation claims (if you know or suspect where you were exposed to it)?

Thanks LynEyre, I am being guided by a group called Clydeside Action on Asbestos who have said they will recommend a lawyer
