Hello Daily.

Just to say welcome tot the site and hopefully having bumped you up the list a bit somebody will be along to advise you.

How do you feel about AS. Is it something you could live with (assuming that the shadows are non cancer related)

Gleason of 6 is low so not high risk as far as I know. My husband was on AS for

a year with Gleason slightly higher than yours before he decided to do anything about it (which was low dose brachytherapy)

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on at the next MDT and I'm sure you'll get more relevant advice

Best Wishes

Sandra

Hi Sandra,

Thanks for replying I was fairly OK with AS at the first biopsy but I have  been suffering with stiff neck and lefthe upper arm ache also pain in my right side which I had an ultrasound scan on my abdomen organs this was fine but an orthopaedic consultant sent me for a CT Scan this showed up the lungs nodules but I don't know anything more till I meet the MDT.

I am still willing to go on AS if everything is what is was test wise at the beginning but we will have to wait and see, I also had a bone scan prior to US and CT that was clear.

I will let you know more when I get my results good luck to your husband and you.

Daily, you seem to be worrying yourself into a state. You won't get to meet the MDT. This is a group of specialists who go through loads of cases together and support the consultant who you will see. With regard to the lung nodules, it is a fair bet that these will turn out to be benign. Lots of people have them. One found on one of my scans years ago caused some concern until it became clear that it never changed whatever the PCa treatment. Your aches and pains sound unrelated to me and will go when you are better informed about your condition, I trust.

Good Luck

Daily, it's pretty common for so-called "incidentals" to show up on scans. It's like taking your car in for an MOT - you may know you've got a broken brake light, but the inspection finds three more things you didn't know about. Try not to worry about it - even if it does turn out to be something that needs treatment it's better to know about it so that something can be done than not know and have it possibly develop into something more serious.

Waiting is the toughest part - we've all been there. Try to keep busy to keep your mind occupied and DON'T look stuff up on Google.

Very best of luck to you,

Chris

Hi daily

I agree with Auld Codger and Cheshire Chris

Some years ago when my PSA was rising during a hormone holiday from Prostap 3 I had a CT scan of my Pelvis, Abdomen and Chest. This came back clear except for a comment that there were a few small nodules in the lower section of one lung. My Clinical Oncologist, who is also Head of Radiotherapy, assessed this as the result of having Chicken Pox many years ago.

In 2015 I had a stomach problem and went for a Colonoscopy which didn’t work very well so I had a CT scan of the colon (CT Colonography). The scan picked up a small nodule in the base of the right lung. I mentioned to my Consultant Gastroenterologist that nodules had been picked up five years earlier by a CT scan. The latest scan was referred to a Consultant Chest Physician and was discussed at their next x-ray conference; the nodule was assessed as an inflammatory nodule without needing any intervention. I understand this nodule was probably from the same chicken pox nodules which were picked up some years earlier.

How many men have had chicken pox and perhaps have dormant nodules in their lungs?

I hope everything goes well for you and the MDT sort out the nodule issue or get an opinion from a Consultant Chest Physician.

Daily, just as I suspected. Excellent! By the way, think of yourself as a SURVIVOR not a sufferer. All part of positive thinking!!!
