Hi

Tony was seen by his oncologist today , his PSA was 26 before chemo and has come down to 3.5 after 4 treatments, he would like Tony to have 10 if possible but if not at least 6, he will arrange a scan after the 6th and will see him again at the end of feb and before his 7th chemo. Hopefully his PSA will have come down more and the scan will not show up any more spread.

regards barbara

Hi Barb

Great news!

I have been following your postings since I was diagnosed, encouraged by the way Tony has lived life to the full despite his treatments

At the time I thought I would not be around for long not having any experience of how this cancer rolls out. That was 10 years ago. So, as an encouragement to those newly diagnosed please don’t let your fears work on your imagination

One day at a time and enjoy the ’now’

Follow Tony’s example and try to live life as normally as possible. We don’t know what the future holds

Kind regards

Ray

Hi Ray

I did panic when Tony went on chemo but now have calmed down, he is having a blood transfusion on tues due to anemia but that is mainly due to his kidneys although the chemo hasn't helped, he is having a scan in feb before the 7th chemo treatment so I am hoping for good news there. onwards and upwards as they say. It will be 13 years in april that he actually got the diagnosis but 13 years last sept when his journey actually started.

all the best

Barbara.

Tony has just seen onco, psa down again to 2.7 and lympth nodes have shrunk a bit so good news, is going to have the full 10 chemo sessions and after that maybe RT to the lymph nodes if his kidneys are ok, for some reason his kidney function has gone up from 9 to 11, so hopefully they will remain stable like that for a while.

Hi

Tony is off for chemo no 9 today and is still keeping quite well, lots of tiredeness and a dodgy stomach for a few days after chemo, tends to spend a lot of time sleeping no 10 and the final one on may 3rd and then see onco the following week to see how it has all gone and next steps, hopefully get a holiday in before next lot of treatment.

regards barbara

That’s great Barbara, John did all 10 and even though his PSA was clearly creeping up from 6 plus we don’t regret any of it.

Fingers crossed for a great result and a fab holiday.

Tony saw his Oncologist yesterday, his psa has risen slightly to 3.7 which is disappointing asked about holiday and he said he was happy but would like to do more blood test at the end of the month to make sure all is still ok, wanted to go at end of the month as zoladex is due 11th june and renal appt on 17th june but hey ho. has to be weaned off steroids over about 8 weeks and will then go on to another treatment not sure what one yet as the one dr wants to put him on might react to his clopidogrel he is on so is being checked to see. scan in 2 months , renal doc wants to put tony on epo injections for anaemia but these cause more side effects in cancer patients so we will see.

ps. he was also happy for Tony to go on holiday without travel insurance as long as it was Europe .
