Fear of the unknown - what support available?

My stepfather is 68 and  has recently (3 weeks ago) been diagnosed with APC, mets in his cervical and thoracic spine and cord compression which caused lower limb weakness hence currently in a wheelchair. Started immediately on hormone therapy, has had 5 fractions of palliative RT and his prostate bx was done last Thursday. Chemo due to start - i presume very much geared to the histological findings.

I live 55 miles away, and my mother are the only family he has.

Was wondering if anybody out there is going/has gone through this scenario and can give advice on coping/living with this devastating diagnosis?

Thank you for reading.

Make sure you have got a referral to the McMillan nurses. Make sure the GP is on the ball. Sure other ideas will come from this forum..
