use of Lignocane gell

hi i was wondering if people have used lignocaine during the time you have had the catheter in ?  My GP seems to think it is only used for insertion ofg the catheter .

It is a short lived local anaesthetic. Would not work for more than a couple of hours!

You might be better asking for a prescription for Instillagel - or just buy some at the chemist?
